Still Crazy after all these Years   Paul Simon

I just grew ,    ......tangled up in blue    (Bob Dylan)

I haven't known peace and quiet for so long, I can't remember what it's like (Idiot Wind) Bob Dylan

At 17 I learnt the truth, that love was meant for beauty queens and those of us with ravaged faces, lacking in the social graces, desperately remained at home, inventing lovers on the phone  (Janis Ian)

"Who can explain it?  Who can tell you why?

Fools give you reasons - wise men never try"

(Some Enchanted Evening from Rodgers & Hammersteins "South Pacific")

Don't Give Up - cause you have friends

Don't Give Up - You're not beaten yet

Don't Give Up - I know you can make it good

Don't Give Up - Be proud of who you are

This song Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel

I need to really keep this in the forefront of my mind.

Yesterday all my troubles seem so far away, now it looks as though they are here to stay.

Always look on the bright side of death. (Monty Python)

Just because you're anxious and depressed, doesn't mean you're life is improving. (The Seakettles)

Thanks Scotchfinger, Moonstruck and Durras, you all have some great lyrics...Dylan, Gabriel, The Seakettles and, for a little class Rodgers & Hammerstein! Here's a few more I've come across....

"I'm waiting on the empty docks, Watching the ships come in, I'm waiting for the agony to stop, Oh, let the happiness in, I'm watching as the gulls all settle down, Upon the empty vessels, The faded whites of their wedding gowns, The songs of hopeless selflessness". Let the Happiness In - David Sylvian.

"Long you live and high you fly, And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry, And all you touch and all you see, Is all your life will ever be"  Breathe - Pink Floyd.

"And if I seem a little strange, well that's because I am" Unloveable - The Smiths

"Well, I've been down so very damn long That it looks like up to me" Been Down SO Long - The Doors

...."May you always walk in sunshine...slumber warm when night winds blow.

May you always live with laughter....for a smile becomes you so

And may good fortune find your doorway, may the Bluebird sing your song

May no trouble travel your way...may no worries stay too long.

May all heartaches be forgotten - may no tears be spilled

May old acquaintance be remembered - and your cup of kindness filled.

And may you always be a dreamer - may your wildest dreams come true

May you find someone to love.....as much as I love you."   (The McGuire Sisters - 1950s)

Thanks Moonstruck really enjoyed your lyrics from The McGuire Sisters, just shows how timeless they are.

Couldn't let the day go by without some kind of a tribute to David Bowie who has just passed away. I know he has written many, many hits but I've chosen this song  from the album "Space Oddity".

"Memory Of A Free Festival"

The Children of the summer's end
Gathered in the dampened grass
We played Our songs and felt the London sky
Resting on our hands
It was God's land
It was ragged and naive
It was Heaven

Touch, We touched the very soul
Of holding each and every life
We claimed the very source of joy ran through
It didn't, but it seemed that way
I kissed a lot of people that day

Oh, to capture just one drop of all the ecstasy that swept that afternoon
To paint that love
upon a white balloon
And fly it from
the topest top of all the tops
That man has pushed beyond his brain
Satori must be something
just the same

We scanned the skies with rainbow eyes and saw machines of every shape and size
We talked with tall Venusians passing through
And Peter tried to climb aboard but the Captain shook his head
And away they soared
Climbing through
the ivory vibrant cloud
Someone passed some bliss among the crowd
And We walked back to the road, unchained

"The Sun Machine is Coming Down, and We're Gonna Have a Party
The Sun Machine is Coming Down, and We're Gonna Have a Party
The Sun Machine is Coming Down, and We're Gonna Have a Party
The Sun Machine is Coming Down, and We're Gonna Have a Party
The Sun Machine is Coming Down, and We're Gonna Have a Party."

....Thanks for that tribute to David Bowie.......re my last posting "May You Always"....must have been in a soppy mood to send that old one!  Everyone must think I'm about 96 years old!.....no, I'm a pretty groovy chick!! (ha ha)

"To every thing..Turn Turn Turn

There is a season...turn turn turn.....and a time for every purpose...under heaven"  (The Byrds I think)
