Hi Everyone,

I thought having a thread for people's favourite song lyrics might be a good idea. Here's a few of mine to get things going. Please remember any lyrics will do, short, long, even your own, Enjoy!

"Only humans carry their past around" The Fall

"Let it be" The Beatles

"Who's pushin' the pedals on the season cycle?" XTC

"Between thought and expression lies a lifetime" The Velvet Underground

Hi TMB and Everyone,

Yer, I am travelling fairly well at the moment, thanks. Hope you are as well.

I don't actually have any song lyricks this time, but song titles. I went to the library this morning to see what they had in the way of DVDs and CDs.

I picked up a CD of African Blues music. The songs are not in English but I am enjoying the music and the melody. The other Cd is called "Music for Cruising" and includes such songs as "on the Road Again" by Willie Nelson. "King of the Road" Roger Miller. "Living next door to Alice" Smokie. to name a few.

It will be interesting how many songs I sing along to as I am driving about this next week! Some of them are real oldies!

Cheers all from Dools

"I'll Be Your Mirror"

I'll be your mirror
Reflect what you are, in case you don't know
I'll be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that you're home
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
'Cause I see you
I find it hard to believe you don't know
The beauty that you are
But if you don't let me be your eyes
A hand in your darkness, so you won't be afraid
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
'Cause I see you
I'll be your mirror

The Velvet Underground

children, behave that's what they say when we're together and watch how you play they don't understand and so we're running just as fast as we can holding on to one another's hand trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me as we tumble to the ground and then you say i think we're alone now there doesn't seem to be anyone around i think we're alone now the beating of our hearts is the only sound look at the way we gotta hide what we're doing cause what would they say if they ever knew and so we're running just as fast as we can holding on to one another's hand trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me as we tumble to the ground and then you say i think we're alone now there doesn't seem to be anyone around i think we're alone now the beating of our hearts is the only sound

Silence says more than words

Imagination cures loneliness

When you become a prisoner - Space Between, Sia

This is one of my favourites by Neil Young - Hey, Hey, My, My

Out of the blue and into the black

They give you this, but you pay for that

And once you're gone, you can't come back

When you're out of the blue and into the black

I feel it's a funny thing that darker lyrics reach out to you more. As they say, when you are happy you hear the music and when you are down you hear the lyrics. Just a little trivia......

Indra

Hey Simona and Indra, thanks for the great lyrics and the trivia, I didn't know that about words and music, very interesting.

"A Lot Of Wind"

Desperate for entertainment So I turn the TV on There's people jumping up and down Then they have the panel on And they talk a lot of wind They talk a lot of wind

Then they have Carl Lewis on He's got a ponytail and he's a vegan He talks a lot of wind He talks a lot about wind

I turn the tragic lantern on It's a program "Good Morning" It's a lot of wind They talk a lot about wind

I'm real sick and in distress I got octagonals in my eyelids From watching all that wind I get horrible horrible horrible dreams So I ring the TV line and get a lot of wind They talk a lot of wind

You see them selling carpets You see them in the shops You see them on the kids programs And they talk a lot of wind

Oh the boredom in my bones From belching a lot of wind They talk a lot about wind They talk a lot about wind

I gotta forget about the wind Has a lot of nerve To talk a lot about wind

There's a roly-poly, roly-poly man He's got a yak haircut (tik, tik, tik) They talk a lot about wind

The Fall

Aha. It's ok. I'm glad you enjoy . Sometimes I can't think straight so I post a song like this one. It's called after midnight by Eric clapton

After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.
After midnight, we're gonna chug-a-lug and shout.
We're gonna stimulate some action;
We're gonna get some satisfaction.
We're gonna find out what it is all about.
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.

After midnight, we're gonna shake your tambourine.
After midnight, it's all gonna be peaches and cream.
We're gonna cause talk and suspicion;
We're gonna give an exhibition.
We're gonna find out what it is all about.
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.

After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.

YES

Liked "After Midnight". Had heard the song before but didn't know all the lyrics...

"Into My Arms"

I don't believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
To each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms

chorus

But I believe in love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candles burning
And make her journey bright and pure
That she will keep returning
Always and evermore

chorus

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Prince (1958-2016).

"Raspberry Beret"

1 2 1 2 3

Yeah

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely

Seems that I was busy doing something close 2 nothing
But different than the day before
That's when I saw her, Ooh, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door

She wore a raspberry beret
The kind U find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her...

"When Doves Cry"

How can you just leave me standing?
Alone in a world that's so cold? (So cold)
Maybe I'm just too demanding
Maybe I'm just like my father, too bold
Maybe you're just like my mother
She's never satisfied (She's never satisfied)
Why do we scream at each other
This is what it sounds like
When doves cry...

"1999"

'Cuz they say two thousand zero zero party over,
Oops out of time...
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999.

"Kiss"

You don't have to be rich
To be my girl
You don't have to be cool
To rule my world
Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your...kiss!
