Thanks

Dear Croix
Yes I know where you feel comfortable...in your parlour, in your Noel Coward smoking jacket in front of the fire..perhaps a tray of tea and crumpets on a tiny table beside you...and your pipe of course...nearly forgot the pipe.
I know where the old Moonstruck is...I know where to meet her face to face, waiting for permission to emerge again..into the rarefied atmosphere where she can breathe....that day it seems, will never come...at least in my State.
I wonder if anyone would understand when I say this...I miss my car more than him....there I said it!
How heartless, how cruel some are probably thinking! I can't understand it either. Perhaps it's because the car allows me to drive away, another activity (driving in traffic) to consume my full attention, perhaps it lets me pretend things are like they were....and perhaps I am driving somewhere to meet him, like I did in the past.
I can't even walk into our usual clubs for lunchtime refreshments where I could pretend he is waiting inside as I enter....some haven't even bothered opening, and the long list of rules, numbers restricted, it doesn't sound like an enjoyable busy, thriving relaxing activity it once was and was designed for...
Without my car I am stuck here at home with memories consuming me and anxiety attacks threatening to take over.....reading bus timetables, working out best way to get from A to B...is it worth cab fare and on and on and on. Should I ask someone to borrow their car? Ask for a lift? I have no one to turn to...just lost and stressed.

Moon I understand about missing him and your car.
Grief as has been stated in peculiar and unique.
I know this is different but family and friends thought I was horrible when I said my mums death was a relief as she had cancer and dementia. I have been grieving her for over a decade but people saw no tears at the funeral and thought I was heartless.
I think when people are being honest like you have been it encourages others too do the same.
Your car gives you an opportunity to go places and meet people.

Dear Moon~
Missing your car more and grief over the loss of someone you love are entirely separate things, even if they both use the word 'miss'. Grief goes right down inside and cannot be weighed or compared.
Your car will come back, you know that (even if their date is a bit hazy) and you will be able to do more. I honestly believe your are very premature in thinking your activity will not reemerge, as it is a basic part of the human psyche. With the need will come a way, bowls will rule again.
You are right about those places with sentiment attached, it would seem alien and strange at the moment, not much loss really. I'm sure htere are other ways to bring back closeness by pretending - I found I could think my wife was in the next room for a few minutes, it helped.
Hang in there Moon

Croix...I imagined/pretended he was with me this morning and felt 100% better all day? Is this against the rules..to imagine and pretend..? or should I be a big girl and face facts?
Stuff it! If it helps me through the day...I don't care what anyone thinks...luv ya! Xx

Hi Moon and waves to everyone
I already checked that one out years ago - pretending that someone was still alive because I couldn't do otherwise - apparently it's A OK.
Thumbs up!
Love to you both xx

Hi ecomama.....just to clarify in case some folk assume I am "in denial" or whatever, "pretending" he is alive. Croix has known me for so long, he knows where I'm at.....I know exactly what has happened, (the death) just imagining that I can "feel" him with me, or saying something to me...it brings me comfort in the moment, so as long as i am not delusional, I can't see the harm either.
the professionals always remind us "everyone grieves in a different way".....I recall a line from the TV series Offspring, when Nina's husband died......
she was telling her Mum about some people's opinions of what she "should" be doing or feeling. Her Mother replied very forcefully saying "Darling this is YOUR grief...and you are allowed to handle it, any damn way you want!"...thank you all for your thoughts........Moon S.

Now that is a way to end a post! and quite right too. Of course you are not in denial, you are in that very human condition of needing comfort -even a dash of normality -and this is one way you get it. GOOD!
I'm glad your car is back. Please stop if you feel teary or overwhelmed and just take a break. Get out the car, walk around it if safe. Look around you to see the world (and keep plenty of tissues in your glove box:)
I'll give you a couple of virtual ones from the virtual box Dottie123 gave me if you like.
You are a big girl (no I do not mean in body-shape) and are facing facts -and dealing with them the best you can. You're OK Moon.
