Good morning Croix....hoping you are still around to read this. Debating whether I should begin a new thread in the Anxiety section..what do you reckon? I know, that you know, what I am capable of achieving, the brilliant heights I can reach, seemingly to the outward eye...effortlessly. But.....and this is a big "but" you are also aware that I am scared of the most trivial everyday things sometimes...like recently my fear of going to a new petrol station...yep...scared of the petrol station!!!
Now I have two new appliances which will be really good....one is a vacuum cleaner which is still sitting in its box...I am scared to assemble it. I want to use it, I need to use it, I am glad I bought it at a good price...and here it is in its box...and I am scared to open it....what if...I can't figure out the instructions how to use it???
see what I mean? Is there anyone in the Anxiety section that can help me with this sort of thing do you reckon? Should I ask the Forum Doctor if she is still around...she has so many urgent cases to answer, mine is nothing compared to others' problems. Who can I ask about this "fear" thing...when the other thing I excel at, is something the majority of folk would be terrified of doing??? Should I begin a thread about this in Anxiety?

Dear Moon - with a wave to Birdy and all~
Yes I'm still here but not that much in the past few weeks, had some medical issues and other stuff, getting better but a while before I'm back to normal I guess.
I'm not sure 'scared' is the right word, perhaps it is a question that something raises anxiety to an almost paralyzing level. 'Scared' sounds a bit judgmental to me (we walruses are a sensitive species) . And you are right; appliances, petrol stations, all sorts of things can do this. My mailbox at the end of my driveways was such a beast for many years, as was answering the phone. Not logical, and definitely a real nuisance.
I can't just say you will work the vacuum cleaner out as the instructions will make it possible. Reluctance such as you describe is not that open to reason. What I will say is that you have overcome so many things in your past that the inner Moon is always capable of surprising you. Plus looking helpless can often dredge up a KISA to sort things out 🙂
As to starting another thread, dunno, I reckon you will get advice wherever you are, certainly you are getting it here. Your existing threads tend to have wide subject matters already.
True just the thought of bowling can reduce grown men (and women) to jelly, and I've no idea why it can seem OK to you and other things don't.
Do you know I can't think of a single OW quote about vacuum cleaners! Memory must be failing me, I'll be leaving things in Victoria Station before long.

Dear Moon, DB, MM, Birdy and all~
It feels realy great to have you all encouraging me on, I'm getting better but had more after effects than I'd expected (nothing serious, just a bit limiting) and am slowly getting back to on form.
So thank you my Friends
