Hi Croix & everyone,

I made mmMuffins today. They have lots of fruit & macadamia nut pieces & some seed mix, plus cinnamon in them. I couldn't decide which fruit to add, so I went with what I have: bananas, strawberries, apples & blueberries.  I haven't had much success including tomato in my pancakes, so I didn't add that fruit.

I realised that if I didn't make some mmMuffins today, I was heading towards feeling disappointed in myself, because I've been promising myself (& LRC, Sumo & Foxy Dog) I would make some when I had returned from hospital, & I even bought the cinnamon for the purpose. So a few more days go by & I still haven't made any more. It occurred to me, I'm not happy with this procrastination.

I want to do such things as I am able, while I am able, without making a huge mess, or when the risk of physically harming is minimal, as it is for anyone who cooks for themselves. I don' want to quit even though it seems daunting, just thinking of ensuring my ingredients are ready, & thinking of the clean-up afterwards.... & the things that can go wrong at any moment. I get so quickly frustrated, irritated, & flustered & I forget things, lose things, didn't place my oven rack evenly in the oven - only to realise when the oven was hot.... for example.

But if they taste yummy (as they do, today), I at least somewhat forgive the small mishaps that occured when cooking.

What's that thread, for mentioning the self-care things you did today? What is it ...'Three self-care things you did today'? I think that's right. I will try to find it.

For now, I have a quote. Larry Niven misquoted this in one of his books. The original quote is:

“A hen is an egg’s way of making another egg.”

From Samuel Butler, Life and Habits [1877]

Hello Crois & Pawsy-Paws, & everyone,

For the sake of full disclosure, my mmMuffins have a secret-not-so-secret ingredient & it's ...

... Catnip.!

That's what turns an ordinary Muffin into an extraordinary mmMuffin.

I've decided, we can market them too, sweet, savoury, sweet & savoury, sweet & sour, meaty, fishy, clammy - we can make them all!

Hugzies,

Dear MK and all~

I"m afraid I've been quiet for a week or son, not ignoring you, just a bit ill for a while, am much better now as it was a rather 'interesting' 🥴 expereince.

Will try to catch up

Croix

Hi Croix,

No worries - your igloo on your iceberg just needs more ventilation, or fewer kiwis....

I was tempted to seek you out, but nah, I heard you were having a "wary lwong walrus sweep", so Elmer Fudd said.

Dear MK~

Yes my igloo was full of the undesirable aftermath of penguins and inebriated kiwis and it took a while to shoo them all out and hose down the floor -which turned out not to be a particularly good idea as the water froze and I now have an ice slating rink inside hte igloo.

The inebriated kiwis like this as they swish in, dig their beaks into hte ice and spin round in loops, which makes them dizzy. They then have to have a refreshing beverage to recover.

I've not though of that mighty hunter Elmer Fudd in ages "Shhh - be wery wery quiet we're hunting wabbits"

Hi Croix,

Those rabbits aren't so healthy to catch anymore,, so Elmer has had to find other things to be wery wery quiet about.  I'm not sure whether he'll be sneaking up on the penguins or the  kiwis.

& to be honest,, I hadn't noticed any difference between kiwis that got dizzy or didn't, except that the dizzy kiwis had a ready-made excuse to raid the bars, cellars & breweries.

I've been trying to compile a list on YouTube of songs to exercise to. Lively & (mostly) happy songs, some funny songs, as well as some jazz. I may also find some latin American dance music. I've come across some songs I hadn't heard either in as much as 60 years or have not heard before.

Today I found a list of Simon & Garfunkel, 4 albums + 2 extra songs.

One was a song Paul Simon  had written (as he'd written very nearly all of their songs), which seems to be mocking Bob Dylan, in the lyrics, the writing style, the music accompanying Simon, who sounded a lot like Dylan, too. If you are interested, it is called, A Simple Desultory Philippic.

The list I found was supposed to be their complete discography, but no, I've noticed some songs not included.

& I was also distracted when choosing a couple Tuba Skinny songs to include on my list. They really have captured a 'feel good' sound.

Well, must be off finding my skates - I have 4 of the things to look for. That'll take a while.

Hugzies & goodnight,

mmMekitty
