P.S. The foghorn sound of EfFe snoring will make sure we keep a clear path ahead and won't collide with any vessels along the way. She will be letting everyone know that a large iceberg is advancing it's way across the ocean.

Sorry, me again. MK, I just found a YouTube video entitled "2024 Fix: Inverted Colours in Windows 10". It is only one and a half minutes long explaining how to turn off the high contrast that might be behind your issue with the update. I don't know if it's referring to the same thing you're experiencing but just wondered if it was. As it's late now I won't try to write out instructions, but happy to do that tomorrow if it might help.

Bye now and sleep well 😴

Hi MK, did the technician try resetting your computer back to it's factory setting & then changing the settings to stop the automatic updating of your pc. That way your pc would be back to being able to make the changes you need.

I hope it is sorted out soon for you.

Hugs

Dear MK and Paws,

No the only signs I saw were printed on empty bottles and cans . I look forward to our paddling efforts and my elevated iceberg.

I hope you have got your computer fixed by now, windows Updates are indeed annoying , however I'm not sure how good a change to Mac might be as they are expensive to repair and oyu may have software on your existing computer that does not go over.

Hi MK,

On re-looking at it, I think the video I mentioned above about high contrast settings may actually be giving instructions to do the opposite of what you are wanting.

My understanding now from what I've read is the high contrast settings are to help people with low vision.

The instructions on how to go in and change these settings are slightly different for Windows 10 compared with Windows 11. As I'm not sure which operating system you are on I don't want to write out instructions for the wrong system.

However, I found instructions for both on The Perkins School for the Blind website that outline the steps in both operating systems. If you search "Perkins School for the Blind How to Use High Contrast Setting in Windows 10 and 11" you should be able to get to it. I don't think I am allowed to post the direct web address here.

I don't know if that helps in any way. I have read that the high contrast settings are not adjusting as they should for some people, so this is possible what is happening for you.

But I'm guessing the technician must have looked at these things already?

Anyway, I hope you are able to get some help with it.

We are almost back to the iceberg now. That's a lot of rowing for penguins which is rather difficult with their small wings. They now have very strong biceps!

Hugs,

Thank you Croix, ER & Paws. I think I must be one of the unlucky people, or maybe owning such an old PcC is the problem. Mine won't even attempt to support Windows 11; it's just not up to the task.

Yes, The Pesky Penguins have suchh large bicepts & Ppectral muscles, they are so top-heavy, they are toppling over nearly as often as the kiwis, who at least have the good sense to stay down until they need to get up.

Croix, next time we need, would it help to hire a sky writer? Would you look up at least once a day to see a sign in the sky?

I've yet to see your post at my 'Introducing mmMekitty'... wonder what you wrote there!?

Dear MMK and ER~

"Would you look up at least once a day to see a sign in the sky?"

It might be more helpful to leave a trail of clams, a bit like Hansel and Gretel and their breadcrumbs. Sounds a lot more enjoyable too

BTW the last thing I need is a tribe of muscular top-heavy penguins. They'd keep overturning and I'd be kept busy pulling them out by their feet.

Windows 11 is not necessary at the moment, Windows 10 is still supported and does have a range of options relating to colour, contrast and brightness - as well as blue factor. I would be hesitant to try anything too complicated on your own and if you can get knowledgeable help would urge you to take it.

If you can plug it in temporarily to your TV and the problem remains then it is not your screen.

I'm running Windows 10 on both my desktop and laptop without missing out on anything important.

Croix....(I would not have a clue what to do with windows if they were in front of me....probably just look out) Due to my long time employer, I have always and still am an Apple person....have no choice, it's all I'm familiar with.  Luckily I have never had to purchase one myself, as they are about 10 times more expensive but I love the cute little apple insignia don't you?)

Neighbour lent me her iPad on which she has Lorimer Moseley's "Pain Explained" book...so I can read it at my leisure now....its so related to what I am going through, the connection between mind/brain and body pain.   I have thought for some time now that mine was mainly being exacerbated by my mind..I just have to find a way to let it know that am in charge here and I want my body back thank you......still the book is extremely interesting for anyone with chronic or otherwise pain......

Dear Moon~

I've had to use both Apple and Windows for a very long time as some of the people I know use one, and some use the other. In fact if you go back far enough Apple was the only one with a built-in disability package which was essential for some I knew.

Having seen the cover of that book I"m pretty certain I borrowed it form the library and read it as a suggested text when starting a constant pain control group f run by a Health Department psychotherapist. I am afriad I found it was nothing like what I expected, and gave up. Like the book it was long on theory of why one has pain, and short on remedies.

I had expected graduated exercise etc, but instead one was supposed to explain to the person next to you a psychological fact about pain.

Maybe others found it good. I abandoned ship and went on to therapy in a pool which was better.

Then again being a walrus I guess I felt right at home:)

Yes I have to sort of agree with you....fascinating as I found the link between brain and body, it didn't actually give me any tools to harness that communication and show that I was in charge....I was hungry waiting to get to the part which told me "what to do"....regardless of how much pain was doing or not doing....just give me some actions, some advice how to get control of my mind back!!

here's a dilemma I am dealing with at present.....big tournament coming up I may be chosen for....or not, if not chosen there'll be no dilemma but it will be disappointing at same time....The "dilemma" comes in as my boss needs me know and for next couple of months so I would have to manage both activities at the same mind.  Usually one has finished as the other one begins....Can I do both?   without being buried under stress?  I seem to go from the sublime to the ridiculous at this older age of mine....either bored still and lonely as hell....or in demand in multi areas.   Can I cope? should I grab both opportunities..or recognise my "older person" limitations and say Sorry I am not as strong as I used to be.....I'll get too tired".......I need someone to tell me what to do.....thank you in advance.  One activity I absolutely adore as you know......the other is stressful and dealing with a difficult person who is even quite a bit older than I am......I would like to do both. if that is possible.....What d'ya reckon ?
