Hi everyone. I'm Geoff and have been a dedicated Volunteer on the forums for 13 years. I am proud to have stopped some of the stigmas that are associated with mental health as well as doing my best to help others too

Before my health went south I was a builder in all aspects of home construction and renovation. If you don't have a handyman around I hope I can offer you some tips that may be of help. I have had many years of experience in home renovation and will do my best to help you out if you are stuck and need some advice

I hope my experience may be of help to the people on Beyond Blue and make their life a little bit better. Even if you need help with the most basic painting job or putting up a shelf I can help there too with some tips

I will do my best to get back to anyone that has a question when I can as this is social yet important thread

Hi Hanna,

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I have considered getting fans. I'm a bit concerned about mold etc which humidifiers help with as well but i'm not sure if they work so well - I'm curious to try though and see if it does work. I think the humidity in my apartment is very intense.

Hey Em - so the humidifiers emit fumes/warmth at the back?

they sound a bit hit and miss but I do find the air hot and musty - I would love to be able to breathe. I'm a bit sensitive I think to smells, I get allergies to gas heaters sometimes and thought this might help. A fan sounds good - will uncle do that??
He's had a lot of fun fixing things lol i hope he feels good and hasn't done too much lol

Got one of those in my lounge em. lt's about 40 yrs old rattles like a tin can but does a great job. Uses no power either big lounge too but no problem flows into the halls too and actually still gets a bit cold on a 40 degree day it's a bloody beauty . Was a really ugly brown but l painted it white haha , yep l'll paint anything.

Hello Geoff..

I got it off closer to the right hand side..which is when the door is open...Thank you so much for your help..I really do appreciate your time..

Grandy...

Ahh sleepy you crack me up bc some of the things you say are so me. You know what, since l came to this house when l think of summer now l hear the rattle and can't wait. Because l know if it goes over 35 l'll just switch on my rattler and have beautiful cool and that soothing rattle humming away. rx

hey rx lol yes!

Hi Sleepy, maybe you could hire one to see if you're happy.

Grandy and RX can I get back tomorrow, the pillow is calling out to me. lol

Take care.

Geoff.

Hi Sleepy,

Fans help with mould as well by keeping the air circulating - I think air movement helps. I don't know anyone who has had a humidifier so I can't help you there... ceiling fans are the best but I think you're in a rental so that's no good. Hope you find something to help you! Cheers.
