Hi
I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling. Our minds can sometimes work for us or against us. Our imagined reality can be so much worse than what is actually happening now. The perimenopause symptoms are physically real, but the anxiety is actually self-inflicted. Your body is objective and does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined.
If you asked yourself “What is happening now and in front of you?” Might help to get you out of your head. Going for a walk, reading or doing something you enjoy is a way to put your focus in front of you and stop the negative thoughts.
The thing with anxiety is that it’s a verb and a noun. We classify it to be so much worse than what it actually is. It’s ultimately something we do to ourselves. It responds to catastrophising and expecting the worse case scenario. This type of thinking was great when we use to live in tribes which ultimately kept us safe. But today it doesn’t have a very good purpose.
Also it is very unlikely that anxiety alone would cause a heart attack. Typically it would involve multiple heart health risk factors and many, many years of chronic poor health.
The good news is that you’re aware that it is your thoughts causing the issue, and you can start making healthy decisions now to change for the better.
Try doing something different and say to yourself “I am not my thoughts”. Also maybe do something that’s loving to you. Something you love doing.
I hope some of this information helps. Take care.
Kind regards,
WB
