Hi Andre_P

I really liked the upbeat theme of your thread.

I am working to stay positive, too. Walking is my main exercise and it really helps to put me in a positive place. Reframing issues is also a good tool. Sometimes you just have to look at an issue from a different perspective to realise things aren't as bad as they originally seemed.

What do you do to stay positive?

Kind thoughts to you

Hello there. How are you 🙂

I don’t do a lot to stimulate my mind these days. I’m trying my best to get on with it. Every now and then I’ll cook the odd good meal. I like walks around the block too. I cuddle my cat, she’s very good company. At this point of time I don’t watch much TV as it stimulates my mind too much.

Also meditating is good, although it has been a few days but I do listen to relaxing music, piano etc etc.

Not an exciting life but it’s what I can do at the moment, til I get in a better headspace. While I’m doing better and I don’t like to complain I’m still no where near my old self or where I’d like to be.

As long as I’m heading in that direction then I’m happy enough for now.

🙂

Hello Andre_P, I'm not sure life will ever be the same as it was once before, so much has changed since this pandemic, added on to our mental state, lockdowns, social distancing when all you want is a cuddle from a loved one and being denied this, makes the situation eager but definitely with precaution.

It seems as though we are all walking down a long lonely road by ourselves but from the trees, either side of us appears a possibility we need to accept or reject as it hasn't suited us toa move forward, perhaps this can change, later on, that's what we don't know until a later date, but we can't run down this path as fast as we can, we have to try and learn as much as possible, accomplish it slowly.

A person can't jump into a swimming pool if they can't swim, they have to be taught gradually so they are able to survive.

We are with you all the way.

Geoff.

Hi AndreP

You make a great point about cuddles from your cat. I have a dog and time with her is like sunshine on a rainy day. Our pets are good for our souls.

I understand when you say you are still working towards your "old self". I liked the way Geoff described the path, there's a lot of sense in what he's saying.

The only thing I can add is that life is not a race and you will never encounter someone at the end with a stopwatch saying you're late. You have to do life your way, at your pace. That's enough and something to be proud of.

Thank you guys, much appreciated. I think I know what you mean Geoff. We are always changing, it’s just up to us to pick our own pace and try to go with the flow etc and not expect too much too quick etc.

I still would like to be back to my old self though - a little bit more carefree etc.

I don’t like change especially when it’s not for the better. I don’t particularly like what’s going on in the world with the COVID isolations etc.

It’s not up to me to speak but I feel the approach that has been mandated on the ppl is not appropriately for ppls mental state of mind. In my honest opinion mental health is the most important health you have.

Mental health can/does cause real physical health problems, psychosomatic problems and a whole range of strange stuff.

Always good chatting guys. Hope everyone is doing well ðŸ™‚
