I have pure ocd and I just can’t deal with it anymore
I suffer from false memories (things that I remember but they never happened) and they are so horrible
is anyone else going through this?

Hi Mrsnikia,
Welcome to the beyond blue community and thanks for sharing your current experiences. I have not gone through exactly what you are but I can fathom the torment and disturbance it may be causing you.
What in particular do you find triggers your ocd or false memories? If perhaps asking yourself this question finds better clarity its worth confronting.

Hello Mrsnikia,
I totally understand what you are going through..... I once had severe OCD but I have now recovered from it and their is hope you CAN recover aswell with the correct help..
have you seeked professional help? If you haven’t I strongly encourage you to seek it ....... my recovery started from seeing my gp through to seeing a clinical psychologist and phyciatrist this then led me to a ocd group therapy ... this was the best thing I ever did it taught me how to master my ocd ....... I have been free of ocd for many years now thanks to the therapy I received..... we were taught a lot of amazing strategies so we could learn to overcome our ocd......
OCD is a thinking cycle once you learn to break free of its cycle you are free........ I did it you CAN too....
if you have any questions or need support I’m here to help and support you 😊

Hello Mrsnikia, and a warm welcome to the forums.
People with OCD may know their thoughts and behaviours but they don't make sense, and what it also does is create our memory confidence because we don't have the certainty in what we believe and this often leads to repetitive or compulsive behaviours that are associated with this disorder.
People with OCD may feel as though there is a breakdown in non verbal as well as planning a function, which is what can easily happen to me in past years, now there is no need for me to organise or plan any function.
OCD can be linked to deficits in memory such as remembering places on a map or the location of a room within a building, that makes it difficult to access when it needs to be recalled, of course, any head injury can contribute to this as I have also suffered from.
When this problem is worse is when your OCD is, an example, having a false memory is one that seems real in your mind but is fabricated in part or in whole, such as believing you started the washing machine before going out, only to come home and find you didn’t.
These are caused because sufferers don't have confidence in their own memories and may create intrusive thoughts.
Hope to hear back from you.
Geoff.
