pre employment checks and benzos

Hi all

I am in the final round of applying for a management role which involves a pre-employment medical. On this form it states it checks for certain medications, I take a sleeping medication primarily at night when needed to stop my mind racing and waking at 5 am. I am worried about this now being disclosed to my employer and me being unfairly prejudiced. I don't want to make any issue out of it prior to the test but I don't know if this will mean they may not offer the role, or potentially held on file against me? Its an office role so I don't see how it is relevant? Has anyone been through similar? I will need to disclose this on the form and show proof it is prescribed however I am a bit lost of how to handle this

Hi,

I'll tell you a secret- everybody tells fibs on their resume.

I would not tell them anything about medications nor treatment obtained. Its private, it's no one's business.

Good luck.

Yep, been there. I said in a job application I had suffered some anxiety issues due to work situations and had been on some mild anti depression meds. Well after sending in the information, I didn't get a second call back. Now I won't tell them anything, convinced employers will not employ me for this reason. I won't supply any medical data now to any potential employer.
I hope you get the job you are are after. 🙂

Hello Lady frazzle, thanks for posting your comment, and as Tony has said people don't tell their future employer about their medications and/or treatments, it's only when they might ask for a sample from you, otherwise, you've been asked to apply for a job, so hope you are able to get it.

Please let us know if you can.

Geoff.

Hi lady frazzle,

Coming from good advice, disclose any medication you take prescribed or other wise..... if it’s not disclosed and it comes up in a urine test you will be disqualified...

if you disclose it your medical practitioner will decide whether you pass or fail...

hope this helps
