Physical symptoms.. Is it anxiety?

Hi all, I have been going through 9 months of all types of physical symptoms. Been to all the docs for all the scans, monitors and cameras you can think of. A few specialists have suggested anxiety but it seems to severe.
started off with chest pain lasting 5 seconds. Maybe 3 times a month for about 4 months.
then had a chest pain, loss of appetite and short of breath one night so I went to hospital.... Was told anxiety.
Over the next few weeks things got worse with constant noticeable heavy heart beats, wierd thump in chest giving me a winded feeling for 2 seconds, loss of appetite, more chest pains, stomach pains, splinter hemmirages, muscle twitches and migraines for several weeks.
this has happened on and off for months now. Feeling poorly more often then not.
other less common symptoms are clicking in ear when walking, clicking in throat while breathing out, noticeable veins under eyes, ear ack,
most common has been the chest pains only lasting a few seconds but can happen several times a day
and the heavy heart beats. Mainly when sitting down or lying.
after any input or advice
thanks for your time

Hi WOD,
Thanks for sharing your story with us and Welcome to Beyond Blue and to the Community here. There have been many posts like yours regarding the effects or anxiety or stress. These conditions can manifest themselves in people in so many different ways!
I am certainly no expert at all, but if the medical staff have suggested it is anxiety after all of the tests they have performed, then maybe that is the cause of your physical complaints.
Have you looked up symptoms of anxiety here on this site or on the web? You may be surprised of the experiences some people have with anxiety.
Just remember though, that when you lookup anxiety, the thing is to not think, oh no, I don't want that symptom. The idea is to be aware of how anxiety can manifest itself and then to find ways to relieve your anxiety.
Have any of the medical people made suggestions about how to ease your anxiety? Have you tried any of these suggestions or ideas of ways to cope other people may have suggested?
Can you see a counsellor or a psychologist?
Do you know what circumstances make you feel anxious and upset? Are there ways you can do things differently so you don't become so worked up about things?
I'm not sure if you have looked at any of the other posts under ANXIETY you may find some answers and suggestions in amongst the posts there as well.
Hope some of this helps.
Cheerio for now from Mrs. Dools

thanks for the replies. I have been trying to respond several times since but there seemed to be an error that displayed when replying. after contacting beyond blue several times they fixed it.
since then I have had a few bad episodes lasting 2 days or 2 weeks. is it normal for anxiety to cause physical symptoms for this long?
also noticed splinter hemorrhages on finger nails and toes, up to 5 per finger but havnt found much on splinter hemorrages and anxiety online. lately the main problem has been heavy heart beats. but I never feel anxious or stressed.
I read through the links. most I had already read. now I can reply to posts again I will be going through them again and putting in my bit

Hi Wod,
The thing about Anxiety, particularly I think, when its based on your health, is that it can manifest into whatever symptoms youre afraid of. And yes, it can be anxiety, and yes it can last that long.
I am a Health anxiety sufferer, and my symptoms are so real, yet once I find a new one, the old ones seem to fade away. Doesn't make them less real or less scary, but it does show how powerful anxiety can be, and how it can tune us into things going on in our body that might have always been like that, but now we are suddenly fixated on it.
Good luck. youre ok.
