Physical anxiety symptoms - muscle twitches, cramps, weakness

The past week or two I’ve been totally ruled by my health anxiety. I started having a weak feeling in my left hand and arm and something about MND came on TV and now of course I have MND. I’ve been experiencing muscle twitches and cramps/sore muscles, mainly in my calves and forearms. I saw my Dr in relation to this and he tested my reflexes, strength and pulses and all was fine. I keep trying to reason with myself but I just can’t shake this MND idea. It’s ridiculous. My Dr only prescribed medication to take when I’m having a really bad moment but the problem is I’m having these every day for most of the day.

Is anyone else experiencing this type of physical anxiety symptoms? This is all new to me as I’ve never experienced this type of anxiety before.

Hi, can someone please reply if you feel like your always getting goosebump feeling randomly? Like a tingling? also one spot of my leg has a burning feeling on and off most of the day .. has anyone else experienced this? Not sure if it’s from my medication I’ve started or not but I’ve felt it in my foot before.

Yes I get what you mean by the tingles. It’s the type of goosebumps you get when you get the shivers and it’s a very strong feeling. I get it typically on the back of my head. And I do get many burning sensations on my face arms chest and stomach I’m sure it’s something that would show up on the legs too.

Hi, I realise this thread is almost 2 years old now but I'm glad to have found it now than to never have. I'm 18, just graduating high school and reeling from my final exams. Around 3 weeks after my exams ended, I began to experience muscle twitching all over my body. I've seen my GP about this, and he told me to just monitor the symptoms for now, get more sleep, increase my sodium intake, and drink more water. I've also consulted my father, who is medically trained (he was a surgeon turned acupuncturalist) and he said that I'm too sedentary since I graduated, and this is the cause. However, it has now been nearly 2 months and the symptoms have gotten worse. Now I'm experiencing tightness in my leg above my kneecap, unexplained muscle pains in my leg, and a crawling feeling on my arms and legs, in addition to the twitching. Like many of you, I'm scared to hell that it might be MND, or MS or something of the sort despite my age. I can't see my GP because my dad doesn't believe I have any sort of medical issue but I need some sort of closure. Any advice or words of reassurance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Azza56

Thanks for your reply!
I’m still getting goosebumps all over and sometimes only on my right side! I would explain it as tingling/goosebumps it’s so weird ! & sometimes I actually see the goosebumps. I get muscle twitches all over my body & sharp pains in different part of my body & this happens on and off nearly everyday! I am so convinced I have MS.. drs won’t refer me to neurologist until they have built a case up because otherwise a neurologist won’t see me? I’ve read lots of others posts and they have been able to get into see a neurologist so easily I wish that was the case for me as it’s causing me to feel really depressed and anxious.. wish I knew what was going on with my body.. everytime I google it points to MS .. so I 100% think I have it 😞

Hi Marto9014

i can relate with you and how you are feeling - I am extremely scared that I have MS but my dr won’t send me for a MRI as I will have to pay thousands out of pocket to get one 😞 she said she has to build a case to send it to a neurologist to get my checked out.. it really doesn’t help 😞 how did your MRI go? & did you have to pay out of pocket for one? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want too.. i experience burning sensation in one spot of my leg on & off and also in my foot on & off, muscle twitches all over my body.. & goosebump / tingling feeling all over body or only on the right side most of the time I also feel like I sway while I am standing. And when I google all of these point to MS .. it’s a horrible thing to go through 😞

Hi,

I am feeling the same as you but I get goosebump/tingling feeling & muscle twitches everywhere burning sensation in my leg sometimes & foot! This too makes me think I have MS & I am very scared.. my dr won’t refer me to neurologist until we have a strong case otherwise apprently they won’t choose to see me quick enough? It really sucks as it plays on my mind everyday & makes everything worse. I hope you find your answer - let us know how you go. Just stay off google! I know it’s hard but it only makes it worse

Hi rubybleu

did you ever find out what exactly it was and how long did it take to go away? I am experiencing muscle twitches, and my eye twitches like crazy, I feel like my legs jerk a little.. and I feel goosebumps/tingling on and off . It’s such an odd think to experience especially when it comes out of nowhere. Glad to know that it has stopped for you.

Hi all

Reading these posts have somewhat put my mind at ease. I've been suffering from theses symptoms for roughly 4 months now. These include chest tightness on my left side. Followed by weakness in arm, leg and even up to my jaw. Random pains also on my left. Dizziness, lightheadedness and generally felling under the weather. Head pressure and sleep problems including insomnia and fatigue.

All these factors have got me convinced I had either MS or MND. Been to the hospital 4 separate occasions just to tell me all is clear. Had 4 ECGs, countless blood tests, haltor monitor and MRI. All clear of any issues. In fact the drs have said I'm quiet healthy, go figure.

I'm really hoping it's anixety or stress as then I can work on it. If its MS or MND I fear that it can't be fixed, especially MND.

Have an appointment with a psychologist soon hopefully they can shed a light on my issues.

This forum has really helped me, in the sense others have felt the way I have. And although it doesn't fix my issues straight away, It helps in the sense other feel the way I am

Once hearing of MND many years ago I've lived in fear of getting it. After such a stressful last 12months or so, I think anxiety and stress have got the best of me.

Normally highly strung, I'm not totally surprised it's manifested in this way. However it was out of the blue. I've had countless days of work, as I couldn't work as i was.

Once I learn more, I'll repost and let you know. I hope you all find the same solution's and answers I hopefully do!

Thank you all for your posts, it's brave of you all to share your experiences

Hi rubyblue I get lip twitches but I’m not sure if it’s from my antidepressants or not but my gp thinks it could be possibly from upping them to a stronger one so we are working on why it’s happening.

I know this thread is quite old but just wondering if anyone is still checking in. I am having many of the symptoms you have all been talking about and would really like to chat with some of you about this and I am terribly anxious right now.
