Panic attacks about not having anxiety

Bulldog_Boy

Hi everyone,

Long story short I've had panic disorder on and off for years, the past couple of weeks it's come back with some of the worst panic attacks I've ever had, I believe this is because I had changed meds because I thought the old one wasn't working. I'm back on my regular meds now and have been for two and a half weeks.

The anxiety has finally started to subside today and now I'm having panic attacks about the fact that the anxiety is going away.

I'm pretty sure that's normal and is the "darkest before the dawn" part before my meds start working again but I could use some reassurance.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Bulldog Boy

Looks like this is your first post, welcome to our forums. We hope you find our support useful.

Great to hear that your anxiety has started to subside but not good to hear that your panic attacks have resurfaced. As someone with anxiety with panic attacks as part of the symptoms, I know how scary they are.

Don't let them get to you, we will have ups and downs with our illness. Sometimes for no reason. However you think it is because you changed medication. Is this something you have done in consultation with your GP?

To reassure you, our minds process our illnesses in different ways so maybe this is normal for you.

What else do you do to manage your panic disorder?

Thanks

Yes I changed medications with my GP and recently changed back under consultation with a GP.

Usually the medication keeps the anxiety at bay enough for mindfulness to help keep my thoughts in check and a few years ago I used to do EMDR but that was in Brisbane and now I'm in Geelong and haven't been able to find anyone who does electronic EMDR

Hi there

How have you been going over the past week? Mindfulness is great! I used that technique regular to keep things in check too.
