I am wondering if anyone else on here is waking up with feelings of agitation, on the angry and unsettled side of things? I have read it is part of generalised anxiety disorder and that it is a build up of cortisol which peaks in the morning.. How do you cope? Does exercising alleviate the condition? Or daily relaxation sessions? I would like information on this. Thank you.

Hi Guest_10261,
Welcome to the Forums! we’re glad that you have been able to find us here. This is a great space to be able to share what you are going through with people who truly get it.
Waking up and immediately feeling angry, agitated or unsettled can be a really tough way to start the day.
Is this something that you have noticed for a while now, or something that has started more recently? As you mentioned, it can definitely be a part of generalised anxiety disorder, however if it is something that you’ve noticed only starting recently or it is causing you daily distress, it may be worthwhile speaking with your GP about what you have been noticing.
Both strategies you mention can be good for alleviating feelings of anxiety. What exactly this may look like will be different for everyone, but can involve daily meditations or mindfulness practices, a walk outside, or spending some time writing down whatever is on your mind. For some more tips, Beyond Blue have a page with some more strategies for managing anxiety.
In the meantime, has anything been helping you cope lately?
Thank you again for sharing here. We hope that this community can be a safe and supportive space for you. We are here any time!
Kind regards
Sophie M
