My ex husband forced me to do an abortion at the moment he learned that I was pregnant he took me twice to the abortion clinic. He uses to say horrible things about my body how it would be destroyed after pregnancy, he never helped me with anything or got involved with my pregnancy. I thought after I had a baby he would get better but things got worse, he used to go to brothel come back home so late, telling me every day how ugly and destroyed I was. Never helped with anything with the baby.
Things escalated so much that he started being physically abusing me when I was with my son…. I decided to leave my place. Now, after 3 years he decided to be the best dad in the world took me to court and wants custody.
is it possible a dad who rejected his son starts to love him after a long time?

Hi Laura_Adu

It's late & I'd like to give a better response than I'm going to.

Your ex-husband has been so abusive to you & your son. Once would be too many times. I would not want to encourage you to give him another chance. which he could use to abuse either your son or yourself.

Sincerely, I hope you kept records of his abuse.

I would like to suggest you phone 1800 RESPECT - 1800 737 732 & talk this through with them & get a clear idea of what your options are.

You got yourself & your son away from him. I hope you can keep yourself & your son safely away.

Hugzies

Hello Laura, well he would have to prove to the court that he has changed and if can do this, then he might be allowed minimal contact at first just to see how it works out, however, from what you have told us that previously happened, it's your son who has a massive impact on whether or not this is what he wants.

Your ex-husband should still be paying maintenance up to the point and if he hasn't been then I doubt whether he will be of any benefit, whereas if he has, then only start with minimal contact, knowing how he behaved previously.
