Is this anxiety??

I could be exhausted and trying to sleep or after a walk, I notice my heart is pounding but I
Don't think too much of it (I do have underlying ectopic beats and arrythmias)
Then I'd get a sudden intense horrible feeling come over me and my heart rate shoots up
Very fast, sometimes to 120 or even 180. My breathing gets heavy and fast
But im just lying there wanting the feeling to end, it's a horrible intense feeling in the chest
I have delt with anxiety, hyperventilating ppl many times. Im not hyperventilating. The breathing increases secondary to the heart rate and horrible feeling that comes over me. I'm not an anxious person at all.
But I've delt with this problem myself for years thinking its just a heart
Arrhythmia happening. But no doctors know what it is.
I'm thinking maybe it's some underlying anxiety??

Anyone experience the same? I feel like I'm the only person that gets this.

Hi Cath21

Welcome to the forums! I hope you can find support here and more people come along to offer you their pearls of wisdom 😉

I'm not a health care professional, I can't diagnose you.

If I were you, I would have all things of physical health checked out first and or simultaneously ask for a Mental Health Care Plan where you can get subsidized counselling. You may find the answers you're seeking in either or both of these paths.

You can always phone the Beyond Blue (BB) Helpline and / or 1800RESPECT to share your feelings and get some feedback from MH professionals. These wonderful helplines can also give you a list of counsellors in your area.

There's lots of information here and great forums on anxiety, if you have a read, you may see some similarities.
I'm not sure....

Only a few weeks ago I was reading a website that a BB Helpline Counsellor referred me to.
It's called the Blue Knot Foundation. I was gobsmacked. I saw myself mirrored in these stories and knew without a doubt that I did have PTSD. It had been informally diagnosed so I kept myself in denial, thinking I could just cope. Then I couldn't... adding 2 police events in 8 days at the same time, my anxiety noticeably skyrocketed and the PTSD was triggered.

I'm now with a Specialist Trauma Psychologist and my Counsellor.

I hope you come back and let us know how you're going.
