How do you make life decisions?

Have extreme decision making paralysis that affects my everyday life. I recently moved to a new city where I know no one. I am looking for a job/house/friends but I’m finding it exhausting and difficult as this would be my 5th time moving to a new state in the last year and a half. I understand that I have put myself into this situation but I am feeling paralysed by too many directions/choices. I have always had this issue growing up but it’s gotten worse in recent years. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Dear Yoshi227~
Welcome here to the Forum, I hope you find it a helpful place to look for answers
I notice you have placed your post in the Anxiety Section and that seems very appropriate. I have an anxiety condition, now thankfully well controlled however in the past I too found great difficulty in making up my mind or starting a task, basically I guess as I was frightened of what might go wrong, and also becuse I did not have confidence I would make the right decisions.
Some decisions are made for us. Unless you have considerable savings then a job is necessary, and often that is not so much you deciding which job, but a case of taking whatever is offered. The same goes for somewhere to live, which depends both on your budget and job prospects.
Other decisions can turn out not to be decisions at all, if one finds a friend that is most likley just the way life works.
I know I've made it sound simple but recognize it is not, especially as anxiety may paralyze you starting to do anything. . For that reason as a matter of priority I suggest you see a doctor in a long consultation and set out how you feel and your circumstances, including those moves.
If you would like to come back and say how you get on that would be great

Hi Yoshi 227
I have had anxiety for many years. Sometimes it's very difficult to function. One strategy that helps me is to make a decision which is good enough and not perfect. This can be difficult to do to start with but perfectionism ultimately stops me making decisions because perfectionism is impossible. Start with small decisions first and then work up to bigger ones later when like confidence is starting to build.
Cheers Dean
