High anxiety over new job, not feeling centred

Hi all,
Recently, I started a role in a company of about 20 people and my emotions are all over the place, mainly because I’m still learning the role at a snail’s pace and I’m super worried about what my colleagues think about me. They have jested a little and made a few jibes from the whispers I hear, and this normally would not bug me, but I’m feeling quite vulnerable at the moment as I’ve lost my centredness. The flux has led to wild inflections in my speech and moods, which hasn’t helped the situation. Is there any way to regain my wits about me?

Hi Emptee,
Thanks for following up on me. These days I feel a bit more centred as I know what my role requires, and now I have the regular qualms of a job, other than not being being right in the head.
It did take a lot of meditation, repeating regular mantras, journaling, prayers and getting out of my comfort zone to actively do stuff after work most days to feel this way. I definitely feel much better and more capable now that my feelings are not flaying wildly about.
As far as sleeplessness goes, I’m sleeping earlier in the morning than I used to, so that’s a bonus 🙂 I think actively trying to get yourself out of the anxiety by taking measures to reduce your worry would help to improve the way you are feeling.
Also quantifying your worst case scenario would help to see that it is not a black and white situation, but one with a myriad of tunnels. Wishing you the best in your job situation, and much love to getting right in your head 🙂
