Iv had anxiety for a few years. However last july it became alot worse. Suddenly i got bad breathing and i feel like i can't get enough air mainly when I am anxious. When i good no problems at all. When im well i feel theres nothing wrong with my lungs but when i am anxious I feel like my lungs are not working properly. Doctor keeps telling me it's anxiety as he has done a lung function test and scan and both were clear.
Does anyone else know what I am talking about.

Hello Monica..
Yes I did and at times still get into a state of panick with my breathing during anxiety..
An ambulance was called for me through and anxiety attack..because I was breathing so fast to get some air into my lungs...The paramedic in the back with me..taught me something that helps..
hold one hand in front of you and look at it..while your tracing it with a finger from the other hand counting very slowly as your tracing each finger..on the way up..you breathe in for 1-2-3-4-5..hold for a count of 3..the breath out on you way down the other side of the same finger for 1-2-3-4-5...It takes your mind away from the other sensations your feeling...
Deep breathing relaxes us and calms us....it’s a very important thing to learn with anxiety...There are many apps on your phone that does breathing techniques to help us through our anxiety..
I have a thread on here called “Grounding What is it and how do we”..it has many good ideas for grounding us when we’re high with anxiety and shows you how to make a small grounding box..that also helps you...
Im pleased you’ve had your Dr. check you out..that must have helped you to relieve your mind a bit..
Maybe give the apps, Grounding thread a try and hopefully you will find something that works for you..
Please let us know how you go..if you feel up to posting again...
Looking forward to hearing from you again..
Kind thoughts..and hugs..
Grandy.

Hi Monicasanduw95
I echo what Grandy has posted above in her noteworthy post above!
There is an excellent thread that many people have posted on about breathing....the copy and paste link is below for you 🙂
www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety/what-physical-feelings-of-anxiety-do-you-get
Its a huge thread Monicasanduw95 yet breathing has been mentioned by many new members making it a very common symptom of anxiety (like yourself)
you are not alone....you are one of many...including myself when I had 'tight' breathing
any questions are always welcome...there are many gentle people on the forums that can be here for you too 🙂

I too get this and on Friday it turned into a full on Panic Attack with a trip to hospital.
it is just the Anxiety, but it is so hard to tell your mind that when in the middle of it.
They did ECG's and bloods as well as listening to my breathing and everything was clear. The mentioned method by GGrand sounds great and I think I will try this also to see if it helps.
I am now on medication to calm me down and this is working wonders. Only a couple of days in, but I will be seeing a Psychologist this week to hopefully start CBT and then my GP. I would prefer to get off of the medication as can be addictive. I am more than happy to go on an AntiDepressant whilst I fight my Anxiety war. Have had a lot of great feedback from friends who I unknowingly went through very similar things in the past 12 months.
