Hi my name is Stephen,
I am trying to go for my 4th or 5th Attempt
for Surgery on a Double Groin Hernia that
I have had for approximately 61/2 years.
I am not scared of anything going wrong however
I have always been proud of not having broken
bones and not having surgery, I don't want scar's
On my body at all I am struggling with the idea
of the surgeon wants me to stay in over night
and that's not going to happen as I will walk out
with out telling them.
I don't want any after surgery pain as I am not nice
to be around when I am not coping.
I need this surgery however I also feel I would
rather live with it than fix it.
but it look revolting every time I get changed
I am now 39 and hate this part of my life so much
and wish I didn't have to go through it or exist.
I have ADHD and major Anxiety

Hi OneLifeOneChance1980

Welcome and thankyou for having the courage to post too

I just had a hernia operation just a few years ago and like yourself it doesnt do anything for our anxiety at all...I understand your situation as I used to have chronic anxiety for around 30 years and take meds now which have been a huge help for my own set of symptoms

You are fortunate as you seem a lot younger than I am and you will recover well. Post operative pain can sometimes happen yet rare as we are given the necessary medication to prevent this from happening

Just for me I found the pre-op anxiety worse than being sore after the op itself....and I was surrounded by health professionals!...I dont remember any pain after the op or even the next day actually..Yes I was sore but there was no pain

Can I ask if you have a GP that can provide you with some peace of mind so you can go through with this op?

Excuse my other question....do you have anticipatory anxiety with having to deal with the op? If you do you are not alone in anyway...I saw my GP and she prescribed me some anti anxiety meds for the day before the op

any questions are always welcome....the forums are a non judgmental place for you to post 🙂
