Health Anxiety - waiting for MRI

Hi everyone,

I need some help and support. I have recently had terrible headaches, tingling and wet skin feelings in patches on my body, dizziness and blurry vision and I am freaking out!

my GP referred me to a neurologist who has ordered a brain and spine MRI which I had on late Thursday night (it's Sunday night now). I feel like I can't even face to day tomorrow as I live in complete fear that my phone will ring with him wanting me to come in to discuss the results.

I have been seeing a psychologist but it hasn't seemed to be helping, I can't control this panic I am feeling that something terrible was on the MRI.

has anyone else experienced this? Please help!

Hi Elizabeth2601,

Firstly, welcome to the forums. I am sorry about what is happening at the moment, any test results when we are waiting for doctors is very tough, have they given you a time line of when they expect the results to come back? I know it is tough and hard to understand. I have personally had tests done and the down time of waiting for the results is very tough. How long have you been seeing the psychologist for? Have you felt this panic feeling before or is this new to you as well? Sorry for the questions, just trying to find out how best to offer you advice.

My best for you,

Jay

It may not make it feel any less nerve racking but know you are doing something positive about it. Alot of people are too afraid to begin finding out what might be wrong with them. If there is an issue there is more than likely an option to fix the issue. It can only get better once you know what you're dealing with. One day at a time, try preoccupy yourself If you find your thoughts slipping into bad ones. Hope it goes ok.
