Have you ever tried a 'Power Pose'?

I have suffered with anxiety with public speaking, interviews, large events for a long time until I came across this simple technique called "Power Posing" the phrase coined by Amy Cuddy (she is amazing look her TED talk up). It's simple find a power pose that you are comfortable with (search google for many examples) and before any event that may trigger your anxiety complete your power pose for 2-5 minutes. I like to put my hands on my hips and stand up tall in a "Wonder Woman" like stance. It may sound silly but it really worked for me. Sometimes I will just go into the toilets of a quiet place to power pose and could feel my energy shift.
I would love to hear if anyone has used this before or if you do decide to give it a go please let me know if it worked for you.

Hello dear Helpstar,
I haven’t tried “Power Posing”..but would like to give it a go...I often listen to TED talk...I will search Power Posing...I am open to try anything different, because I don’t know if it works until I do try....
I hope others will come in and read your very positive post...That I’m sure will help many people..

Hi there
I have a feeling I watched the same TED talk. I did give the power pose a go, and have recommended that others try it too. It was a few years ago when I tried it prior to giving an oral presentation. I must admit its the one and only time I've got through an oral presentation without crying or running out the room, so... I'd call that a success!

I have heard of posing and power but not power posing.
I am glad you find it useful.
I googled and it said it is controversial because the underlying science has not been proved.
I feel if it helps you with anxiety and public speaking well that’s all the proof I need.
I will look up the TED talk.

hi there, I have not seen the TED talk but I did hear it talked about in a podcast. As quirky said, a few years after it became popular there were issues in replicating the result.
With that said ... if it works for person then good!
