Feeling Panicky

Community Member
I’ve recently started a new job and I have walk to work every morning as I don’t have a license. It’s only 10mins walk. But, lately my anxiety has been crazy! I got panicky one day walking and my heart started beating fast. But as soon as I started talking to my dad on the phone I was fine. Now, I am too scared to attempt walking to work again in case it happens again. Does anyone have any tips for me that has experienced similar to try and help me relax and just enjoy the walk? Thanks

Hello CGreen..

Welcome to the forums..

Im sorry that happened to you when you were walking to work..that would have been frightening for you..I am so pleased to hear that you rang your dad...Well done..

My therapist told me to look at the things I see when I’m walking, and to listen, can I hear birds singing...Listen to a favourite song with ear phones in....sing along with it..

Having a little grounding box with you might help as well....Search in the search bar...”Grounding,,What is it and how do we”...It gives you ideas on how to make a Grounding box...and different ways to ground yourself....when your anxiety is high,,

I hope I help you..other people may call in and give you more suggestions..

Talk here whenever you feel up to it...

Kind thoughts...with care..

Grandy..
