I am on day 3 of taking a new SSRI to manage anxiety, more than depression. I know they take quite some time to work, but is it relatively normal to feel quite low the first few days/weeks?
Also experiencing a lack of appetite and insomnia, which are probably contributing, but I just wonder at what point should I be more concerned about the low mood?

Hi TheatreGal and welcome to our community
SSRI do take some time to work. For some of us it can take up to 4 - 6 weeks. Feeling low stayed with me until about 4 weeks in. I'm not a health professional but do suggest you go to your doctor to talk about how the SSRI is working or not working for you.
You're not alone TheatreGal, there are quite a few people on the forums who struggle with medication. Feel free to have a browse of the website. The search field is at the top of the website.
Hope some of this helps.
Kind regards
PamelaR

Thanks Pamela.
I spoke to my doctor today and we’ve decided this isn’t the right medication for me as I was experiencing lots of unpleasant physical side effects as well as feeling low. So I’m not going to continue with it. Back to the drawing board!
