Feeling like a failure

Feeling like I'm failing!

The new meds I think are working ok, I'm not as anxious!

But I googled tonight, epic fail!

I just want to feel normal again!

I know I have to work harder!

Today I just  need encouragement!

Hi Skye.

I hope you’re feeling better today. I think you have a good attitude with not worrying so much what it is but rather what you need to do to sort it out. It’s the waiting around that I find most difficult. I hope the psychiatrist visit was worth the effort and not as scary as you had thought it would be. I was nervous about my first psychiatrist appointment but found her to be very helpful. She was very good at titration of the medication and explained the likely side-effects very well. I had some trouble early on with being very drowsy on the medication so she changed the time of day for the medication which was a big help.

I’m going along okay at the moment. I had a little bit of trouble sleeping last night so I am finding it a bit hard to get motivated today. It’s difficult to know whether my vision is improving as I see it every day. I’ll need to wait until next Monday when I have an optometrist appointment and they’ll measure it. Just exercises and waiting until then. It’s starting to get just a little bit boring.

Did your psychiatrist give you anything to do or are you just in limbo until you see your psychologist?

Cheers

Dean

Hello Bluey moon, I responded to one of your other threads and didn't receive a reply, but I want to have another go. I hope you won't take this harshly, because these are just questions for you to think about.

I see that you have said several times in this thread that you have thought about leaving your family, to spare them the pain - not that you're afraid they'll leave you, but questioning whether you should leave them, and how this would be an inevitable decision you would have to make if your worst diagnosis fears were confirmed.

Have you thought about why this is? Are you longing for an escape, to be free of responsibility for a while so you can regain a sense of self? Would getting a diagnosis of a severe mental illness somehow 'remove' you from society, isolate you, perhaps even validate you, and give you that opportunity?

You have, despite assurances, desperately kept seeking that elusive diagnosis from a number of professionals, even though that diagnosis will change nothing about the core details of your life, other than perhaps changing your current treatment path.

So is there a part of you that actually wants this diagnosis to be true, so you have an excuse to leave your family?

Just saying hello to you again Skye. And also I am glad your hubby told you that he loves you. Because the truth is..... you are very loveable!

With much love to you and hugs

Oh Jess I am so sorry that I failed to respond to your previous post, I will go back and re-read it!

I totally understand why you have asked what you have!

So I'll try to explain why I feel the way I do.

It comes down to this basically I'm petrified of become violent or paranoid and that impacting the lives of the ones I love! You see at heart I'm gentle and kind, and the thought that an illness could cause me to change petrifies me! I feel as a mother I have a responsibility to protect them, yes, even from myself.

The fact I keep seeking out a diagnosis, I don't think I could answer that as I don't know. i guess some of the symptoms I experience I can't beleive could be anxiety!

Thank you for taking the time to respond!

Shell,

much love and hugs to you xo you are loveable also!

Skye I know how hard this is trying to get your head straight and dealing with a family it can be overwhelming.

I have offered my husband to let him out of marriage a few times the you feel like it's the best option sometimes for the ones we love to not have them join us on this Rollercoaster. But that's not true you offer so  much to your husband  in your life together this hard time won't last forever. And no one can replace you for your kids! Hang in there.

I also wanted to say you are so brave for searching for an diagnosis it is really hard to do. I don't think you search for diagnosis because you want one if you are like me you search because you need to know what's happening to you in order to fight it and get better. For example  I had some physical health issues in my early 20s kept being told was fine took me couple of years to get an answer I didn't want there to be an issue but when I was diagnosed with something I was relieved it wasn't in my head I wasn't being a sook and I could have treatment to help. My point once I new what it was I knew I could get on with life not worrying why I was sick and In pain knowledge is power as they say and it's the same with mental health.

sorry to ramble not sure if all that makes sense.

Keep pushing forward you will find the correct answers and life will improve. Take care

Hi Dean, thought I would check in on here, I just wanted to see how your recovery was going? Have been thinking of you!

Hi Skye.

Thanks for checking up on me. I’m going reasonably well at the moment. I’ve been able to get normal vision in the centre of my field of view since last Wednesday. If I try to look sideways though I still have quite significant double vision. I’m still unable to work as my eyes tire rapidly and I lose this vision. I still have some tests to do to find out whether my heart is causing any problems. It’ll be nearly another month until we have all those answers and even longer if there’s anything needing to be done. I’m still fairly optimistic of a good long-term outcome. Thanks to your earlier posts I have resisted googling anything and this is been a big help.

I hope you are doing better now. I understand if you don’t answer this as you may be trying to stay off the Internet.

All the best.

Dean

Hey Dean,

I'm so glad you vision is improving, good luck for the long term, I applaude your attitude and I'm glad you have resisted Google!

I have my days! I'm still struggling with questions about my diagnosis. I still am very much afraid I am hearing voices. What I hear isn't people talking to or about me. More like someone talking outside, which it very well could be, we live on a busy street! At the moment I am able to function ok, and my priority is being the best mother and wife I can be. I take comfort from the fact my husband has promised to get me help if I get sicker even if I think I don't need it, also he has promised to protect the kids no matter what, which is so important to me!

I have tried to streamline my care as much as possible, seeing my psycologist and Dr when I need, also ring the acute mental health team if I need!

I have been trying to stay off here, only because some posts trigger my anxiety, which is selfish on my part, but I need to do it at times!

My best wishes are still with you Dean!

Hey Skye

I just read your post to me in the BB cafe thread. I just want to give you a massive hug. You know you have so much love inside of you, for your precious family. It comes out in your words. I even received some of your love into my own heart, when I read  in the BB cafe, that you missed me. I think life is often very much about love. If we can give and receive love , we must be doing something right. I don't think we are failures.

So I am sending out some love to your heart now.

Many hugs
