Feeling anxious - life and uncertainty after car accident

Hi everyone,
I'm normally a "stress head" anyway but this has been exacerbated recently as I was injured in a traffic accident in May. I'm currently two months into a physiotherapy program for my injuries but am having problems going back to work. My work environment is stressful normally and coupled with my current pain level, I can't seem to manage being there, even for a few hours.
My stress lies in the fact that I only have limited annual leave/sick leave hours and the TAC only pays 80% of my pay. My husband does not work (unable to do so at this stage). My specialist tells me that I may be up for another 4 months or so of pain. So I stress about when I can return back to work and my potential loss of income, leading to loss of my house etc if I can't pay the bills. I still have 10 weeks worth of annual leave up my sleeve but that isn't 6 months worth. I worry constantly about what will happen after the 10 weeks worth of annual leave is up. We don't have many savings.
This anxiety is at me constantly and what is making it worse, is that I am normally a person who over-thinks everything and likes to be fully prepared for any circumstance. Now that control has been taken out of my hands and I struggle.
Please help me to help deal with this all.

Hello Dear StressHead63,
A very warm and caring welcome to our forums..
Im so sorry that you had a car accident and will be in pain for maybe another 4 months....I do wish and pray that you will heal soon and it will be 100%..
Its hard only getting 80% of our income when we really need it to be 100%....
I remember that my hubby wasn’t working and I was for a few years, and my income was the lowest wage...
What I did..was to ring my mortgage supplier, electricity company, and the council and explained what we were going through, and they made a new payment arrangement until my hubby got work again....
Most of the utilities companies, councils and mortgage suppliers are only to pleased to help out when they can....I’m wondering if you have approached any of these at all....If not maybe it’s worth a try...
It’s hard I know when struggling with anxiety to stop the overthinking and stressing about situations that are upfront in our minds..and I’m sorry this is happening to you...maybe talking over your anxious thoughts with your physiotherapist might be of help to you and help you to settle your anxious thoughts some...
Please, talk here anytime you feel up to it....
My kindest thoughts dear StressHead63...
Grandy..

Wellcome to our forums!
So sorry to hear you had a accident I hope you have a speedy recovery….
Have you thought about contacting your superannuation company? They sometimes grant early super due to financial hardship………
I hope your anxiety settles for you soon maybe see your gp if it doesn’t you could do a mental health plan together this will enable you to see a psychologist who can give you many strategies for your anxiety 😊
