Does anyone suffer from Chest Pain Anxiety?

Over the last week I've had TWO seperate incidences of severe pressure in my chest and throat and each time has lasted around 10 minutes and has made it harder to breathe. It almost feels like someone is sitting on my chest! I've never had this happen to me before. Ever.
I did some online research and came across chest pain anxiety.
Has anyone ever experienced this or something similar?
Would love to hear from you.
Kind regards,
Raman 🙂

Hi Raman,
Thanks for your post.
I've absolutely had this experience. I've replied to a bunch of members who've had this experience too but they don't always title their post as 'chest pain anxiety' so sorry I can't link to it!
Anxiety can come in lots of different ways and forms. Sometimes it can be quite disconcerting when all of a sudden the way we experience anxiety kind of 'flips' into something else. I've had anxiety for as long as I can remember and the way my body experiences it has varied so much.
How are you managing it? Are you coping okay?
Hope this helps,

Hi RandR,
I think I might have. I used to get that extreme physical nervousness that you would normally experience in the belly, but all over my chest, throat and shoulders, usually without a noticeable trigger. My chest would feel very tight and I would find it difficult to breathe.
So sounds similar. It was a new thing for me too. But my symptoms always fluctuate and change, move around my body and my mind. It passed by itself eventually.
But if you are worried, obviously I would recommend having a chat with your GP.
Have you been experiencing more stress than normal recently, and do you normally have symptoms of anxiety?

Hi RandR,
I used to be prone to chest pain anxiety. It used to scare the hell out of me. I ended up in emergency a couple of times, thinking I was having a heart attack. I was then told that heart failure and anxiety can feel very similar.
It always came with breathing difficulties. Very unpleasant feeling. My heart goes out to you.
It is probably best to get it checked to eliminate the possibility of other physical issues. Knowing it is "only" anxiety helps de-dramatize the situation when it happens.

Raman I get the same feeling often as well as the feeling as if someone is strangling me from the inside of my neck. Which can be quite disconcerting at the time. Usually after a while it settles down I manage to calm myself and start breathing normally again. But some times it is my heart because I also have angina. So I have to be cautious making certain it is not an angina attack.

I am managing okay and with regards to being more anxious than normal recently the answer is 100% yes! I've been extremely anxious regarding a job I have spent the last 5 weeks interviewing for and are expecting a decision soon and this has made me very anxious.
I've been controlling my breathing and just sitting upright when itr happens and as this has never happened before I am inclined to the think the anxiousness over the last week regarding the job is the trigger.
Thanks again everyone @swtpotato @kanga_brumby @Starwolf @romantic_thi3f
Kind regards,
Raman.

hello RandR
i have had the same chest crushing feeling as yourself. its really quite scary isnt it.
i tend to find the more i pay attention to the tightness the worse it gets.
sometimes i panic about it doesnt help but ive come to realsie instead of panicking. sit up and take a good few deep breaths in and reassure yourself that itll pass

I competely agree with the sitting up and taking a few small deep breathes and reminding myself that it will pass 🙂
