Hello Anxious, thanks for posting your comment.

Starting medication can in itself be frightening, especially if you've been worried about taking them and searched the net for side-effects and yes it's possible once you start them a panic attack is a sudden feeling of very bad anxiety and it may make you feel short of breath or make your heart pound, which will cause you to sweat.

It can take our body time to adjust with this medication but if you are at all worried please go back to your doctor to discuss the situation.

Hope this helps.

Geoff.

Hi Anxious1,

Medication can cause all kinds of different reactions in some people and absolutely nothing in others.

You may be able to go to the Chemist where you bought the medication or telephone them and ask if they can explain the side effects of the medication to you and what might help you.

Like Geoff mentioned, you could return to the Dr who prescribed the medication and have a chat with them. Also like Geoff mentioned, you can Google a list of possible side effects. Sometimes that list can freak you out more than it helps you! Guess the drug company has to explain any possible reaction to cover themselves for all possibilities.

So yes, it is possible to have a reaction to the medication. It is also important to not stop taking the tablets! Have a chat to your Dr if you are concerned.

Cheers from Dools

Hi Dools

Thanx for sharing that info with me, I expect I will be told that these are common symptoms, I am going to see how I go in the next couple of days and see my GP. I have heard our bodies are just adjusting to the medication and that it will pass!

I will keep an update on my progress!

Cheers😊

Hi Geoff

Called the info line and spoke to a health worker who did mention this is common. This is the first time I am going through anxiety issues and have been terrified to take any medication but have come to accept that I need to take meds,

I will see how I go and keep ya posted,

Thanks Geof 😊

Hi Anxious1,

Congratulations for making a call and enquiring about what you are experiencing. I find it helps me to have more knowledge and understanding of what is happening and why.

Google has lots of information on how to help yourself with your anxiety. There is information on the Beyond Blue site as well that you may find beneficial.

Years ago I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Once I knew that was something else I was experiencing, I was able to borrow some books on that and worked out how to live my life differently.

Hopefully the medication will kick in soon and the side effects will ease off. The Dr may be able to offer suggestions regarding the side effects if they continue.

Cheers again from Dools
