So I’m 17 and I’m not the one the ever get depressed or anything. I’ve never really been depressed and I have always been pretty normal, I get happy I get angry but usually I’m in between.
But recently and I don’t know why when I’m on my own mentally like it’s just me with my thoughts I get anxiety for no reason like I don’t think about anything important at all and it’s really hard to fall asleep. But this anxiety thing comes and goes and the only way I can sleep is if I’m really tired or I have a podcast playing while I sleep so i can’t really talk to myself. I mean sometimes I get into really deep thoughts like life after death and about space and stuff and for some reason it puts me on edge and I hate it and I’m really trying to do the best I can to rid my self.
but if anyone has any suggestions like drink something before I sleep or like read a book or something it would be much appreciated

HI MV11 and welcome to the forums
I myself have GAD and depression. I find talking to my GP and getting a referal was really beneficial. I found I needed more help and someone to talk to. This has helped reduce my anxiety greatly. You may not think you are unwell enough, but it is still good to check in. If you had a sore throaat for a few days you'd see your gp. Why not for something like mental health? If this doesn't sound like a good plan to you there is a youth mental health service called headspace (www.headspace.org.au). They have centres around Australia and online. Maybe you should give your local centre a call
I have found meditation really useful at managing my anxiety and helping me sleep. I use the app called 'calm' but I have heard others say 'smiling minds' and 'headspace' are good. I found it started to help after doing around 10 mins a day for a week. It takes a while to get into it but it is something you should give a go.
Also because you asked for a book suggestion I just have to say if you haven't read Harry Potter you need to. It starts easy as it is for younger kids, but it gets more complex as the books go on as it is for kids as they grow up. It is a whole amazing world and it gives you an escape.
