I live in a shared household and the other two people have gone away for 2 weeks. This is the first time I have ever been alone at home and I am really anxious about it. I’m worried about a whole number of things that could happen- logically I know the chances of any of my fears occurring is minimal; however, I can’t seem to get past these. I would love some ideas or suggestions that could help me with this anxiety as I don’t want to send the next two weeks like I have been today.

Hello Dear Guest,
A warm welcome to the forums,
I can relate to how you’re feeling, after my husband passed away, it was the first time that I lived alone….it was hard at first, sleeping on the lounge, tv running all night and lights left on…etc…
I was introduced to sleep stories, you can find them on you tube..I listen to them every night when I go to bed…it takes my mind of every little creak that my house makes…by listening mindfully at the voice telling the story and of course the story….I drop off to sleep each night before the story finishes…..maybe you might like to try them…I have dogs now for many many years and they make me feel safe…probably not an option for you (dogs)….
Do you have neighbours that you trust, that you could confide in about how anxious you’re feeling by being alone, so they could give you their phone number, so you can ring if you feel overwhelmed by being alone?….or do you have a friend/s that can stay with you until your house mates return?..
Just a couple of options that I was thinking about that might ease your anxiety..

Grandy..
