Anxiety because I have been sick.

Hi all, I have been sick since December.  The doctors are not quite sure what it is. I have had every test you can think of. They think I have gastroparesis ( which is my stomach is emptying too slowly) I have nausea, pain in the stomach and loss of appetite.  Since then I have become very anxious about anything. Has anyone been through this. Please  let me know.  Wishing you all a great day. 🥰

Hi Dirox

I’m sorry that you’ve been unwell and living with fear and uncertainty. Hugs to you.

I can well understand why you are feeling anxious. I had a similar experience of being very unwell and it was only months later after two ED presentations and seeing two specialists that I finally received a diagnosis. I was pretty much a wreck during this period.

I muddled through on my own but following the diagnosis my anxiety worsened. I didn’t know how I was going to live with my new chronic and disabling illness or if I wanted to. It all became too real when there was no more living in hope of a better outcome.

I saw a psychologist and she encouraged me to stay connected with friends, eat well, maintain good sleep hygiene, exercise and reframe the issue.

I eventually learned to see this as an opportunity to really look after my health and make important lifestyle changes around reducing stress and increasing exercise/physical fitness.
I’d say I’m in better shape now than before diagnosis! I can’t control the future, so I live each day to the fullest and appreciate all that I have, without dwelling on symptoms and what I might lose.

None of this change of thinking was easy but so worth the effort.
I’d like to encourage you to consider seeking professional support to deal with your anxiety. It can get better.

Happy to chat, please post anytime.

Kind thoughts to you
