Hi Guys, just looking for anyone wanting to talk about ADHD.
I've only just found out that i have it after years of anxiety/depression and some obsessive behaviours too. I could always 'handle' it but last year I lost control and hit a wall so to speak.
After some really helpful visits to my GP, phycologist and physiatrist it was agreed try some medication of for my ADHD issues.
I have to say it's been a great relief to put a name to it all. My life has been a real mess just hanging on by a thread. I a married with kids and that has been pretty tough at times.
I started watching some TED talks on ADHD and really related to many of the issues that these people deal with on a daily basis. I am the finding the idea that other people out there are experiencing that same thing really comforting! ADHD can be quite isolating sometimes.

Hi lower case,
Just popping by to say "HI" and to encourage you on your discovery of learning further who you are and how you tick now that you have the knowledge of your ADHD.
Years ago I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. The more I read about it the more I understood myself and learnt how to make the most of relationships and life while having this interesting disorder.
Hopefully you will find greater understanding and different strategies to use to help you along this journey of life.
Cheers from Dools

Hi lower case,
Thanks for your post.
I don't personally have ADHD but I do know people that do so I'm more than happy to talk about it.
Feel free to pop in on some of the other threads about ADHD here. That way you can get to know others who do actually have it!

Hi! I was diagnosed in January!
I was just wondering how you were going a few months down the line? I'm still struggling to find a medication/ dose that works for me and would be interested to see if you have managed to settle into treatment (no specifics of course ;)). Thanks 🙂

Hi lower_case
My first time here on a BB forum. I saw your post and am wondering how you are getting on?
After 23 years since a diagnosis of MDD turned Bipolar 2 diagnosis, with untreatable depression, I've been diagnosed with underlying adult ADHD a few weeks ago.... I'm 42 in 2 months and I just don't even know WHAT to do, think, feel... it's like the way I saw myself and how I fit (or try to) in, my world has been completely upturned.
I don't have the easiest Psychiatrist, I'm currently at inpatient at a mental health private hospital.
I am so lost. I'm on medication but I just am confused with how it's making me feel. Plus of course the depression is still there, with it's little mate, anxiety.
I feel like I need resources, aussie ones, plus a few new friends to discuss this/life with.
Have you been managing ok?
Mel

Welcome to the Forums, and thank you for sharing this, and for checking in with everyone on this thread. We can hear you've been going through a diagnosis journey, starting medication, and feeling like your world is being turned upside down - that's full on. Thanks for sharing what's been going on for you here.
It might be worth checking out some newer threads, or even starting a discussion of your own. If you're not sure how, there's some handy tips here: Starting a thread. It can be a great way to meet some community members, and maybe get some suggestions from the community on good Aussie resources, like you mentioned.
We hope that's helpful, Mel, and we're reallt grateful you could share here.
Kind regards,
Sophie M
