Year 11 HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT SEEKING HELP

I’m just seeking help from people that would have knowledge on this topic. I left school at the start of year 11 due to being bullied. I thought the best option would be for me to go to tafe and persue a course there until I realised that It literally wasn’t for me. I just think I’m way to smart for it and I feel as if I have so much potential, so I really would love to go back to a different school where I don’t know anyone to have a fresh start. I applied for a non local school to be rejected, and the school told me if I wanted my HSC I would have to do it through tafe. This made me so upset because I literally made the worst decision to leave and I’m so close to giving up with the whole going back to school thing even though it’s what I really want. I understand that I missed about 6 months of year 11, but is there any way of me getting back into a different school ? Or do I have to go through tafe for HSC 😕 i honestly don’t care if I repeat but is there any way for it to happen?

Hi Alsizo and welcome to our caring forum community;

You haven't mentioned your parents in your intro. It'd be wise to seek their counsel on this subject because adults have a far better idea of what your options are and how best to support you. Though I don't know them or if they're supportive. I hope so...

It's commendable that you've been doing this on your own; it must've taken courage to play things out this way. So congratulations for being a survivor.

I'm so sorry you've been bullied. It's a destructive pattern for some young people to turn on each other, but there's help out there if you're willing to speak up.

My suggestion would be to request a meeting with the principle of your old school to disclose everything that happened to you and discuss options. Take your parents with you if possible.

If going back there is too scary, then he/she will have a far better chance at relocating you ok. Their words hold power in the education sector and might get you into another school.

Tafe's very different and doesn't have the same comradery, atmosphere or programs that schools do, so I'm not surprised you didn't gel with going there.

I hope my suggestions are helpful and provide some reassurance that there's still ways to get thru it. And don't forget to swallow your pride and seek advice from your GP who can organise a psychologist or counsellor. Otherwise a school counsellor would be great too.

Take care and please, post back and let me know your thoughts and how it goes.

Kind regards;

Sez
