Hey,
im almost 21y/o and feel like I haven't achieved in my life. I finished all my studies about 2 years ago and since then, I have not done anything. I'm trying really hard to get a job but just keep getting knocked back.
I have very little confidence and I also find that I worry about everything!
I don't drive because I worry about stuffing up, I hating doing thing by myself because I worry. I can't use the phone because I worry about what to say.
i also suffer from anxiety (ever since I finished school) and will get frequent headaches (that worry me even more) I feel like I can't do anything because I worry I'll get a headache. Then I worry about my health and the fact that I take a lot of panado (I have it atlease 2-3 times a week) l.. I have a low pain tolerance and panic at any sort of pain
i enjoy reading and craft and housework but find that it is only a temporary remedy
can anybody else give me some suggestions or feel the same way?
i feel like I'm wasting life and not living to my full potential 😞
i love to travel and really want to gain my confidence to do stuff and experience new things

HiImCasey and welcome to the BB forums.
Sorry to hear about your stresses. I know how hard it can be as a fellow anxiety sufferer. You sound like you my have some aspects of social anxiety (please not I am not a dr so not able to diagnose please refer to a professional. Also always take professional over forum users advice). It is hard to stop worrying what other people think of you but it is something you can work around with support and help.
Anxiety disorder is something that can be treated. Trust me I know first hand. I struggled with confidence, anxiety attacks, I felt weak and always on edge, but with therapy and some medication (note this was my treatment course that me and my dr agreed upon so this may not be for you). I went from feeling constant dread and being self concious all the time to being ok and being able to start living again. It does take time but the journey is so much better than struggling with it every day.
Have you talked to your GP about your concerns? If you haven't I suggest you book an appointment and get a 'mental health plan' done. I went to headspace which is a youth mental health service. I found it easier to go to them because they specialise in mental health and I felt more comfortable seeing them then going through a gp clinic. Maybe going through headspace could be something to consider if you do not want to go through your GP (they have GPs at headspace that could do the mental health plan with you).
Anxiety can make you think you are wasting you life, but I don't think you are. It is just the anxiety speaking. It will get better once you get the help and support. I think back at me at my worse and I always wonder how I used to function, I feel so much better now. Something I can suggest you do while you wait for your appointment is to do is deep breathing exercises and meditation. I use an app called 'calm' and a deep breathing app by beyond blue. They will help stop your racing mind and can help slow down your breathing which will calm down your CNS and reduce anxiety.
Hope this helps. It does get better I promise, but it is something you shouldn't have to do alone. We are here for support
