i was never really insecure untill around the age of 9-10 when i started to notice how skinny and pretty my friends were. ive tried to tell myself that im happy with my body and that im beutiful in my own skin but i just cant believe it, evreyday i consider trying new diets or just starving myself. everyday ill struggle to get out of bed knowing ill never be important to anyone, when i do get up i walk past the mirror and see how ugly and disgusting i look so ill just stand there and cry. please if you know anyway of coping with this please tell me im to scared to talk to my parents about it wondering what they will think of me.

Glad you came here for a chat regarding the current challenges you face. It's important you find people who can relate to how you're feeling.
It's frustrating how body image plays such a part in everyday life. Of course, it's not just about being slim enough, being too slim can also be an issue. My 13yo son cops a fair amount of grief at school for being a super slim kid. We went to a dietician some time back and received some really constructive guidance in regard to a diet which would see him achieve the best state of physical health. Following the diet has seen him put on weight as well as helping boost his self-esteem, seeing he's now feeling in control of how he's managing his own body. Knowing what needs to go into your diet or come out of it is important, seeing that what we eat can impact us on so many levels, especially when it comes to energy levels and mental well-being.
Wondering if you can speak with your mum about creating a diet that sees you achieve the best possible state of health. You can do this together with or without the help of a dietician. Having mentioned my son's issue, you'll understand that a diet isn't necessarily about losing weight, it's about getting our body functioning at optimal levels - weight gain or weight loss becomes a side-effect of this. Something to keep in mind: Starving the body of all the things it needs from certain foods can lead to variety of problems down the track, seeing that the body requires certain chemistry to function, chemistry that's partly provided through what we eat. I started a vegan diet a short while ago and the research in regard to nutrition and the body is quite mind-blowing. I also visited a dietician so that I was educated in how to best approach this way of eating. Education is important and liberating Georgia. By the way, eating much healthier has seen me lose some weight and regain energy, something I've been needing to do for quiet some time.
I know this sounds like a typical response but everyone is different in regard to the way they look, just like they're different in regard to how their mind ticks. Lots of factors come into play - diet, exercise, genetics etc. Shifting focus from looking 'acceptable' or 'attractive' to being the healthiest version of yourself helps set an achievable goal for you reach and be proud of. A healthy balance between mind, body and spirit is the ultimate goal. It's not just about the physical aspect of our self.
