Hi! I’m new here. I finally got the courage to just give it a go.
I’ve been struggling with panic and other issues lately.
I haven’t really talked about it much irl because I don’t feel like anyone else has to deal with my issues. I just always feel nervous, some of the time irrational thoughts just decide to come by and say hi, most of the time it’s just intrusive thoughts, which, considering I guess what you would call past issues, have kinda just hung around for awhile.
When I nervous, you just can’t stop yourself, I know that what I’m thinking is silly, but I guess that doesn’t necessarily change it happening. Trust was always an issues as well and being super cautious of perfectly kind strangers, which is quite upsetting and I know it’s not shyness, considering I have great friends and no particular struggles in talking to most people (Classmates, etc.). I can’t tell sometimes, I feel like I’m lacking independence, because walking down the street is something that, unless I have a friend, is a major stuggle. Kids my age are normally fine with that and doing much more.
I know these are probably some stupid stuff to be upset about, considering the circumstances of the many, many children my age, suffering, I feel bad for comparing my issues to others, but I guess it really depends. All I would like is some advice, I’m considering going to talk to someone in real life, I think I should, I’m just not sure how.
I really want to stop constantly worrying and any tips would help.
Thank you,
Sam

Hi Sam
Welcome and like mykl said..."Good on you for writing about it" 🙂
There is nothing silly or stupid about what you have posted. It takes huge courage to post a thread topic on the forums...and you are amazing for reaching out....Good1
Can I ask if you feel like talking about your feelings (like you have done here) to a parent or relation? You would be surprised with the help you can get...Even if you print this page and hand it to a parent or the school counselor can be a big help....You will feel better after having a talk with someone 🙂
The people on the forums are very gentle and caring too...we are here for you Sam
Please dont feel bad for anything....most people compare themselves to others...we are only human Sam and far from perfect
There is also a terrific group of volunteers at 'Kids Helpline' that can help too on 1800 55 1800.....Its a confidential...private and free counseling service and is available 24/7 too! Kids Helpline has been around for a long time and they are very kind to talk to....and non judgemental of course

I hope you can post back when you have the time and let us know your thoughts Sam
Im Paul...and thankyou for being here with us Sam
My best

Thank you for your post,
Yeah, I can definitely relate to a lot of the things you’ve wrote there, I guess it’s just because my brain list pretty much every possible outcome of walking down the street, or going to the shops. (More the negatives).
I’m working on just walking with friends more, I’m gonna have to, school is coming up again.
Thank you again,
Sam

Thank you,
I’m not exactly sure who to to talk relative wise, I have great parents, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know, I have some great Aunts and Uncles, most of them live far away, my grandparents, while also being very kind people, I don’t talk with them often, due to distance and other stuff. I’ll definitely try to talk to someone, I’m just not sure who yet.
As far as other options go, I’ve considered them, but nerves always kick in, so I’m slowly building up to that.
I guess there’s no point in comparing problems, I don’t really want to seem insensitive though, but I guess it really depends in this day and age. I’m very thankful for having access to places like these.
Thank you for all the kind words,
Sam

Hi Paul,
Taking the thought into consideration, I contacted someone from the helpline, via Webchat (cause talking over phone, while a good option, isn’t the best for me), it wasn’t about this whole mess of my life (which I didn’t explain in my original post), because I just wanted to see how it worked, but it was about a toxic friendship I’ve been trying to end (and it has contributed to some of my feeling towards myself), we figured out a good solution, and they were very helpful, talking about these sorts of feelings is pretty hard to me, but I think that making a start would be good.
Thanks for the great advice,
Sam
