I am working in a job I hate because I need to for another 2 months to finish my qualification. I know I don't want to have this career but need the qualification so I have a chance to go to uni or do other things. I've been pushing (Past of anxiety and depression) so hard to go in, sometimes when I get there its okay but everyday before I go in I have panic attacks, cry and just feel awful, I've been googling like a crazy person trying to find techniques to help, have been meditating today for 5 mins, really need help getting through the next 2 months, haven't felt this way for a while and want to keep this in my past as its affecting me outside of work. 😞

Hi Display Name Already in Use, {Try again for better luck 🙂 }

Welcome to these forums.

Hats off to you for taking on a job you dislike with view of a long-term goal. It does take courage and determination.

However, it is taking a toll on you and you need to take good care of yourself to see this through. It seems to have triggered unwelcome panic attacks and these need to be managed. Techniques are available but they need time and persistence to become effective. You may want to look into Relaxed Breathing (can be googled) as it needs less practice than meditation and can have immediate results if done successfully. Watch out for that often unnoticed knot in the diaphragm area which makes it ineffective.

A wise first step would be a talk with a GP. Short-term mild medication may help. It could assist you over those next couple of months. It would be the quickest solution if relaxed breathing or relaxed body scan don't work for you.

Hey Display name is already in use,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for reaching out to us.

I'm sorry that you've been having these panic attacks; it sounds incredibly exhausting. Are you seeing a GP or a therapist at the moment?

It's great that you've been trying meditation - it is definitely a great technique for anxiety. One other big technique though is self-talk. What sorts of things are you saying to yourself before work? What are you worried about that's making you have a panic-attack? It's okay if you're not aware of this (yet) but it can be incredibly helpful in managing what's happening for you.

Hi,

Panic attacks are so unsettling. They can be very stressful. I'm glad you posted and are looking for ways to manage them.

I think the others have left some lovely messages of support and sage advice in their posts. So I don't have too much to add. But I just wanted to say hi and let you know that you're in my thoughts.
