Hi BigScary, welcome to beyond Blur forums
We aren't doctors, therapists or psychiatrists. So we cant diagnose. What we are however is people with mental illness that have been through an awful lot of experiences in our lives.
So your first action should be a chat with your doctor. Dont hold back with any information.
As for experience I think the first 50 years of my 59 years on this planet has been full of crying. It wasnt until about 6 years ago that it all came together with a proper diagnosis. My illnesses were- bipolar type 2, depression, dysthymia and anxiety. My dysthymia was responsible for my excessive crying and sad poetry I wrote.
Other factors could be your teenage years and factors like environment, friends and the unknown like careers etc.
But what I want to tell you that there is nothing to worry yourself about as long as you get the help you need. Just like finding the problem why a car wont start you have to get a correct diagnosis first. Only then can you be treated correctly.
Lots of people get caught up with the "oh no, I've got a mental illness" hysteria. So remember this please, people take tablets for headaches, put cream on themselves to help with muscle pain, eat certain foods to get the right vitamins etc, the only problem with taking tablets or seeking treatment like therapy is the other persons view of it. People can be so cruel when they find out your have mental illness issues. So best to keep it to yourself, your family and the people you really trust.
oh, by the way. My Niece (20), daughter (25), my sister (54) and me all eat more when we are depressed and lose weight when we are not depressed.
Take care Tony WK

dear BigScary, thanks for your post which sounds to be a distressingfor you.
When we feel awful and break down in tears we don't automatically think that we are depressed, all we want to know is why is this happening, and many times we don't know why.
This means that you should go and see your doctor, sure physically there is nothing wrong with you so we put it off, but we can't stop our crying, and that's crying at nothing really, or we don't think so, but what it does mean is that mentally we are not feeling right.
When I say 'mentally' people take a step backwards and say I'm not crazy and there's nothing wrong with me, so please don't cart me off in a white jacket and lock me up for good, which certainly doesn't happen these days, but what it does require that it's best to talk to your doctor.
You have to remember that all doctors see so many people who are depressed, so they won't be shocked to have you there.
With depression it damages our feelings and will make us cry over nothing, so it seems, but there is a reason which we may know but generally it's something that we don't or can't give any reason as to why.
Please I urge you to make an appointment to see your doctor, and if you want, take someone that you can trust with you as support, but please let us know how it goes. Geoff.
