I got diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder recently
I feel so utterly embarrassed and ashamed about it, I knew I had problems but I didn't imagine it was like this.
It just hurts so bad, I don't feel like I'm the same person I was before I got diagnosed.
I wish I could get rid of it and be normal
I feel like I've failed and can't win

Hi Liam007,
I am sorry to read that, autism is very tough but one thing I do know about it, you can live with it and live a very happy life as well. You are still normal in my opinion, you may think a little differently but then again who doesn't these days. How can we help you with this?
My best for you,
Jay

Don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed. I’ve had two partners with autism and seriously the day I found out was such a relief. Everything just slipped into place and I knew it wasn’t just me. This leads you to ways of coping with it and it also helps you learn more about the way you think. Get some books out of the library on the subject and be happy that you k
now know what makes you tick

The diagnosis really has no effect on who you are, to be honest I believe I'm on the spectrum and yes I don't like crowds or loud atmosphere but I do get sense of deep focus and analysis that many could never grasp, this is often the case for anybody on the spectrum.
Autism and anywhere on the spectrum is really a trade off, you don't just lose "normal" skills that people people naturally have, you also gain senses they don't have, Also it is ALWAYS possible to learn the skills others have naturally, it just not as natural.
