Hey James
really sad to read what you are going through with the anxiety.....My name is Paul....and I can help..
* do you have a best mate/gf that understands? If not thats okay...we are here
* do your parents know or is it too difficult to talk about....which is fair enough..
* You are 18 mate.....thats meant to be fun (and i am not lecturing here..)
* there is no immediate 'cure' so to speak James and I am sorry to let you down..
* Psychologists cant write a script for meds no matter what your age...but you know that anyway..
* Just a small favor James......if you wish to...can you post back and let me know about whats happening in your life right now? Example: are your parents okay?...Do you live with them?....
* To answer your question however.....anxiety can be deceased by....reducing general day to day stress..if possible of course....
* Having a small group (even one) of people that you can vent to...and let them know you feel like crap (this is vital James....having someone to talk to about whats happening in your life and the anxiety
* Anxiety is very common but very few people have the guts (like you have) to get on here and talk about it
* Anxiety does go away.......I know...I used to have a lot of it.....
* The symptoms feel awful James but dont fight them....it only makes the anxiety worse...talk to us. We are here
* I need you to hang in there James and I need you to take a couple of deep breaths and slowly let them out.
You have great strength James for even getting on here...and well done mate! You are a legend!
Talk to us....as much as you want.....it would be great to here back from you
I am sorry you are sad Mr J.....talk soon?
Paul

Hi James. I would get along to your Dr quick smart. The symptoms you're describing are almost along the lines of Agrophobia (fear of the outside). There are medications you can get (prescribed) for this condition. It is nothing to be ashamed of, many people have it, but the sooner you get to your Dr, the better for you. Some people with this condition can't even go to their letterbox. Can I ask if your breathing is affected. If it is Agrophobia, this will cause depression because you have a feeling of being 'trapped' within four walls. You may be able to get a 'home visit' Dr if you're unable to go because of your condition. When you contact your Dr, explain to the nurse what's going on, she will discuss with Dr, if your condition warrants, you may get a 'home visit'. I'm not saying you WILL get a 'home visit', just ask if you qualify. If you are having problems with breathing when you go out, try breathing into a paper bag.
Sending you a BIG hug too. Hope this helps make you feel better. We care at BB.

Hey James
Just thought Id say hi and see how you are going...I hope you are a bit better 🙂
Part of my anxiety is agoraphobia...but like Pipsy said..this is treatable and your Dr would definitely be able to help. Agoraphobia has different levels of intensity sometimes you may be comfortable in being away from your house...and sometimes maybe not. See that Doc .....you have nothing to lose and everything to gain
Kindest Thoughts
Paul

Dear James,
I really feel for you and your anxiety issues. I've had major depressive and anxiety disorders since childhood, with the anxiety starting at around the age of 5, when I began school.
Severe anxiety is hell and can make you feel paralysed by fear. I have been in treatment for both disorders since 1995, however, up until that time, I can never remember waking up in the morning without feeling sick (often being sick) and having the shakes. It impacted on all areas of my life, until I finally sought help in my mid-30s. Seeking help from a psychiatrist made an enormous difference in my life. I was, however, being treated primarily for depression, as I had had a few very serious incidents that were triggered by the intensity of the depression.
However, in 2006, I had a major breakdown and was hospitalized due to anxiety. I spent 3 weeks in hospital and after I was discharged, spent another 3 months coping with agoraphobia that kept me house-bound for 2 months. I was unable to visit my psychiatrist in person; I had my consultations via Skype. As one person mentioned, there were many days when I could not check my letterbox for fear of leaving the house. During this period, I relied heavily on my psychiatrist and family members for support.
My psychiatrist gradually introduced two new meds, specifically for chronic anxiety, and after a few weeks, I was amazed by the changes. One med was a slow release relaxant for me to use if I suffered physical symptoms of anxiety - nausea, vomiting or the shakes. The other med was a faster act drug which I use whenever I feel a sudden onset of anxiety.
You don't have to live with the level of anxiety you're experiencing. There are quite a few medications available which will definitely address your anxiety so you can begin to live a "normal" life.
Please make an appointment with your GP as soon as you can to discuss your issues. If you are unable to go alone, ask a family member or friend to accompany you. You can then speak with your GP alone.
Personally, I have found the treatments for anxiety more effective than those I have tried for depression, however, that is only my experience.
Please make an appointment with your GP asap; the sooner you seek help, the sooner you will be on the road to recovery.
Do keep in touch. Paul, Pipsy and I are concerned about you and would be very interested to hear of any progress.
Take care and best wishes,
lh

Hello again, thank you all for your replies,
in answer to the many questions
my parents know fully of whats going on and are trying there best to support me, I have a girlfriend who also understands but my anxiety is affecting us alot as it is hard on her because i have been so bad for so long and i dont want to burden her with my issues
i can leave the house/go to my lettter box etc its only in crowded places where i get severe severe anxiety or even at home i may get it when i have anxiety about my anxiety if that makes sense?
I am seeing a psychiatrist soon for an assessment and he will then make a plan of action, I am not sure if medication will be involved but I just want to be better. Im willing to do whatever it takes!
It just very hard to live life at the moment with how things are, i have lost many friends who just think i am being rude etc and Its too hard to explain to them whats going on. Im trying my best
