Wanting some hope

Hi,

I’m 37, single Mum of three. History of childhood abuse. Hospitalised 4 years ago for depressive episode. Was left for another woman 2 1/2 years ago. Got so depressed I lost a job I love. 1 1/2 years ago moved to a farm & got new job. Have been pretty happy & medication free for a year. For the last month I have seen a return of first anxiety, then more recently depression. Lack of sleep, worry, feeling of impending doom and hopelessness. I’m a failure. Lack of sleep etc. this is due to environmental factors. The children’s father is unwell due to alcoholism, I have been bullied at work. My eldest son (9), has been having symptoms of anxiety & depression & trouble at school. He is booked in for child psychology. I really don’t want medication. I just want some hope that I will get through this and that one day I will have lasting happiness. I’m just so tired of going from crisis to crisis in my life. Thanks xxxx

Hi Nadia80,

Welcome to the community here. Sorry to read you have found yourself in a rough place right now. Is it possible for you to receive some counselling at the moment? I know that is not always possible for many reasons.

My psychologist often askes me to think of things that have helped me in the past to get better. Can you think of some things that have helped you?

Hopefully the child psychologist will be able to help your son. All the best with that.

When I am feeling like I have so many issues to deal with, I will write them all down then decide which one I will tackle first and decide how I am going to do that.

Are you currently being bullied at work? Can you take steps within the work place to have that dealt with?

You could telephone the "Australian Human Rights Commission" and the "Fair Work Commission" and discuss your situation with them.

Do you have any hobbies or interests that you enjoy doing, even if it is for a short period of time during the week?

You don't have to answer all of my questions! Sometimes having a different perspective can help. Wishing you all well.

Cheers from Dools
