I have not been posting for a very long time (dropped into the Cafe a couple of times though). In that time I have not been discussing my MH issues with anyone. I've come slowly to realise that is not very healthy - not good to bottle it up. Maybe that is why I have been feeling quite blue for a while now. Fearsome lack of motivation, racing mind, repetitive and intrusive thoughts, isolating myself more and more.

Have been lurking in the background reading threads and getting a feel for the place again.

Anyway, that is all for now. Hoping to be able to join in the discussions.

Take care all,

K

hi K thanks for coming back but from what you have told us it seems as though you may have OCD, I will catch up tomorrow morning as I start very early but hope others will join in. Geoff.

Hi Geoff - nice to hear from you.

Yes you are right, I have OCD, clinical depression, etc. The OCD and social anxiety seem to be in the drivers seat at the moment.

Thanks for replying.

hi HA1, thanks for getting back to us and remember you're not alone, I have OCD as well just as many other people have as well but there is a huge section on OCD here on this site where many comments have been made, plus if you google 'intrusive thoughts' it also dominants this section.
I wonder whether you are taking any medication and under any therapy, the latter may or may not help using CBT with a psychologist, this just depends on how severe your OCD is.
My thoughts about this illness have certainly changed quite considerably over the 58 years I've had it, where my habits, rituals and definitely thoughts have altered from extreme to learning to cope with it.
I also hide what I'm doing so nobody can see me doing them, so it would be good to hear how you are going. Geoff.

Thank you Geoff for your words.

During my time away from BB, I made the decision to stop taking medication and seeing psychologist. I was then on a high having completed a long course of schema therapy with my clinical psychologist! So with this newfound understanding of my MH issues, I wanted to try and manage my illness on my own. Not necessarily the smartest move I have made. I might start a separate thread on this adventure later.

I have done some 'research' on OCD, but will take another look. Not sure how to gauge the severity of OCD. But in my case it is the thoughts.

Take care,

K

Hi there HA1, and welcome back to BB Forums. You say its a while since you were here. Can I ask how long? Ive been a member here for 2 years and I dont recall your name, although you may have had a name change. Given you are a former Champion you wont exactly need a tour of the Forums.

But if its the opportunity to release all those bottled up emotions and thoughts, then I'm more than happy to chat. I also experience OCD, although for me its one of the things which came along after developing PTSD. A bit of a coping mechanism I guess.

Hope to talk further another time. Nice to have you back again.

Sherie xx
