Hello everyone, I am in my 50s and have suffered depression to various extremes for many, many years.

I have been doing quite well for a while, especially after selling up my business and ridding myself of the stresses there.

I have however been getting down about health issues, apart from depression and anxiety, sort of making doing work a bit hard. I have been finding myself steadily more disinterested in seeing friends and catching up.
Recently we have had a visitor move in for a couple of years and we have been getting on so well. We have been going everywhere, and I've been having a great time.
But suddenly I can't get it out of my mind that it will eventually come to an end, and suddenly the enjoyment of doing all this with her, has been replaced by a huge wave of depression, so much so that I feel ill.
Never been into a chat like this before, but I am feeling really really bad.

Hi Struggling_Life,  Thank you for sharing on the forums, we are so glad that you've taken a big step in sharing here. We are so sorry to hear you've been going through a tough time and we hope you find some comfort in sharing here, and reading through some of the other posts to the community, some of which you might relate to. We are sorry you are going through this, although it is great that you are able to recognise some of those early symptoms when you might not be feeling good, such as being disinterested in socialising. Has anything helped in the past when you've started to feel this way? Often a trip to the GP can be a good first port of call as they are able to refer you to appropriate services if needed. Especially since you also mention having health issues which is understandable, can make you feel down.

Please know you are not alone with these feelings, if you ever want to talk this through with one of the Beyond Blue counsellors, feel free to give us a call on 1300 22 4636, or reach out through Online Chat here.   Thank you for sharing this and giving this community a chance to offer you their understanding and advice. We’re here to listen and offer support, and you never know how your story might help someone else. Be kind to yourself during this time. Kind regards,   Sophie M
