Newbie dropping in to say hi

Hi all, I’m a 35yo female with anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, currently homeless and just had a 20 year DV relationship end. Fun stuff hey. I guess I’m just hoping to connect with people who can relate....that sounds a bit weird but I think it makes sense? I’ve been in and out of hospital 4 times so far this year alone for suicide attempts and just want to meet some people who understand what mental illness is really like. Maybe connect with some of you, who knows. This is my first post so I don’t really know how all this works

Hi, welcome

Youve home through a lot lately, I hope we can offer you a place of calm and a non judgemental environment here.

The best thing I could offer you at this time is to ask you to put the following threads in the search bar at the top and read just the first post of each

the best praise you’ll ever get

saving yourself from doom

There is some awesome recommendations in there that I’ve been watching for 33 years now like

google

youtube Maharaji sunset

Reply anytime and again a very warm welcome, I hope we can bring some value to your life

Thank you for such a warm welcome:) I have been through a bit but I know that there’s people worse off than me. I really just want to meet people like me. It gets lonely when you have a mental illness and a lot of people, although well intentioned, just don’t understand.

Hi Aleisha173

You are strong by posting in the first place....dont spend too much time figuring out how the forums work...many new members also have the same experience as you do

I understand your pain with mental illness Aleisha....mine started when I was 19 in 1979 and it was a dark place to be in..it was horrible

there are many gentle people on the forums that can be here for you

Sophie_M has posted super helpful contacts above for you

we are listening 🙂

my kind thoughts

Paul

Thanks white knight, I really related to the “saving yourself from doom” I might have to write that one down and keep it for quick access when doom does hit!

hey aleisha173 I would like to welcome you to this wonderful online community and I would like to applaud you for your incredible strength and bravery of stating your story and asking for help. firstly I would like to say that I'm really sorry that you are currently going through such a hard time right now but everyone in the beyondblue community is here for you every step of the way. its sad to say that mental illness still has a stigma but forming communities like this one and telling our stories removes one step at a time.

Thanks Paul, I bet it was a lot harder back then. There would have been nothing like this and almost impossible to connect with like minded people. I’ve been scrolling through some posts and already feel a bit better.

You are all so kind. I think I’m going to like it here. It’s not the same as face to face conversation but support is support no matter how you get it.

Hey Aleisha

thankyou so much for the kind replies...(we dont expect any...yet appreciate your them!)

there is no judgement on the forums Aleisha...just the best support we can provide through our own life experience with mental illness

please be gentle to yourself

Paul
