Good evening tleaves. Please dont be nervous about joining us here on BB. You are amongst friends, fellow depression and anxiety sufferers, just like you and I. Although, having said that, I will definitely admit to feeling nervous too, the first time I posted. But I needn't have, as I was instantly made to feel very welcome by fellow members. I realised I wasnt alone, that my thoughts and feelings were normal under the circumstances. And that there are many here who are happy to validate your fears and concerns and to help you work through them.

I'm pleased to hear that you have managed your depression in the past. That should give you confidence that you can do it again, despite a number of distressing things occuring for you recently at your workplace.

Please be confident tleaves that you can speak openly and honestly here, because the forums are moderated to maintain our safety and anonymity. Would you feel happy to tell us a little more about what treatment you have had in the past for your depression? You say that you have had it under control until recently, so it would be helpful for us to know what has worked for you before - eg psychotherapy, medication, lifestyle changes, etc. I also wonder if you would like to elaborate on what the issues have been at work that has caused you such distress. Some members here may be able to offer some helpful advise if they knew a little more about the situation.

Tleaves I would suggest you have a browse through some of the other existing threads in the Depression section and also the Anxiety section of the Forums. To read other members stories of their experience and ways they have managed to overcome their MH issues will no doubt benefit you as well. Please feel free to reply to any other threads that you relate to, as members will really appreciate any input or questions you may have.

You will also find a lot of information in the Resourses section of the Beyond Blue website. Have a look at "The Facts" and the "Get Support" sections and have a good read. There is a lot of useful information there.

Once you let us know what treatment you have already had, we will be able to make other suggestions based on that. I look forward to hearing from you again. And be a little more specific as to what advice you are looking for.

Kindest,

Taurus

Thank you for your kind words Taurus. I had my depression under control in the past through medication and to start with by having regular visits to my doctor for talks. Some of the issues that I had at work involved having a role taken away from me that I had been doing for over 8 years . I understood the initial reason for this happening but when the role was started up again it was given to someone else with no explanation why. When it became known that this had upset me i was told that i had a bad attitude and was setting a bad example. So i no longer feel free to talk to anyone in my work place about any issues. I also found that the person who said these things who was my supervisor seemed to take every opportunity to put me in my place and make me feel very uncomfortable around them. This eventually made me get very nervous and anxious about going to work every day to the point of me feeling physically sick and shaking all over. My heart would start to race as soon as I heard this person's voice and i started missing work because I just wanted to stay home where I felt safe .

Hey,

just saying hi,welcome.

Take your time to look around, and join in when your ready.

hello tleaves, welcome on board, and it's not easy to post your first comment, because many a time I'm sure you had typed it out, then edited it and finally deleting it, but as soon as you do this you only wished that you had posted it this is only natural and happens to all of us.
There's just one question I'd like t ask and only answer if you want to, but are you being bullied at work especially by this supervisor? Geoff.

Hi geoff. Yes i guess you could call it bullying. Fortunately the person that was doing this no longer works where i work but unfortunately it has left me with my depression getting worse and I still get very anxious about going to work sometimes i get so anxious that i dont want to leave the house and end up missing a day of work.

hi Tleaves, thanks for getting back to us and I'm deeply sorry that this person has bullied you and now caused depression.
I would go and see your doctor and have some time off work, with some counselling, but what you must not try and do if you do have time off is not to just sit at home so that this depression can get stronger, easier said than done, and sometimes this maybe a reason why your doctor doesn't want to give you time off. Geoff.
