New Member, Introducing Myself

Hello there,

I have been suffering with anxiety and depression for a few years now and it has only just hit me pretty hard this year and i'm finding it hard to cope with day to day activities and life in general.

The hardest part is loosing motivation to do the things you enjoy or just getting up and going to work. I feel lonely at times, i constantly compare myself to other peoples lives and always asking myself why?

With the advice of my mum she had told me to perhaps give beyond blue a call and sitting for a couple minutes looking at my phone i thought i have nothing to loose. It was the best decision i made to call Beyond Blue as i knew this is step in a forward direction for myself of getting better, the man on the other end of the phone was very understanding and let me speak my mind freely i am very greatful. He suggested I join the online forum, this is something i have never done before. So i'd love to know what anyone else on this forums coping strategies are and how you manage your anxiety or depression?

Look forward to hearing from you all soon.

Ally

Hi Ally,

I've just joined Beyond Blue today. I can really relate to much of what you described. I am currently in hospital with a relapse of major depression. I hope that these forums is a way of supporting each other because depression and mental illness is really something that only someone who has experienced it can understand. You are not alone. I can totally relate to the feeling of loneliness and isolation. Hang in there.

Thank you for your message.

I am sorry to hear you are going through this also to extent of having to be in hospital, i hope that you can get out of this fast. I'm hoping that these forums will all help us understand that we're not alone and that we can give advice to one another which is such a great thing. I was very nervous about contacting beyond blue but i believe its the best thing you can do and it mean that were taking the right step into tackling this mental illness and getting on with our day to day life.

I hope that you get well soon.

Ally
