Hello everyone.
I just want to introduce myself. I am a 33 year old female from Queensland. Have suffered from depression since 16, on top of ocd and anxiety.
Have found after the recent death of my Dad and dealing with other issues that my depression has gotten worse. Feels like the medication am on is no longer working.
Have joined this forum to chat with people who also suffer from depression, since no one else seems to understand unless they have suffered from it.

Hey there and welcome to the forum
You have certainly come to the right place to connect with others, most of us on this forum have depression and certainly can relate to you. So many lovely supportive members who can share experiences with so you are not alone.
I've had depression and anxiety since childhood and been diagnosed with bipolar II and PTSD. I'm doing well at the moment, the meds are working very well......lucky
I hope to hear from you again, here you can ask anything and it's a safe, non judgmental environment.
Warm wishes

And also I wanted to say that I'm sorry about your dad, it's not easy to deal with the loss of a loving parent.
Sometimes medication doesn't work.....tell your doctor and ask to try a different one....there is so many different meds on the market. Usually psychiatrists are better at giving the right medication. If you're not seeing one, ask your GP for a referral .
Ciao for now

Thanks for replying. I have seen psychiatrists in the past, but kept getting referred to different people all the time. Plan to find one that will not do that, really need them to do something with my medication. I'm on the highest dose and it just seems to have stopped. My doctor refuses to prescribe pills to help me sleep, so add lack of sleep on to everything.
I have tried so many different medications, would love to medication free one day, as so sick of suffering from depression, but am dealing with a lot of things so know will take time.

Must be frustrating not being able sleep well. Sleep is very important for wellbeing, it's very hard to function with the lack of sleep. Some medication actually causes insomnia, if that's the case with yours, I would change it to another one. I would discuss it with my doctor.
I take two different type of meds, one is for the night which makes me drowsy and helps me to sleep well and one is for the day which is more like an upper, helps me to be motivated and focused.
I hope you have a lovely weekend, and keep posting
Ciao for now

There are many people on this forum who do have both of these conditions, including myself for a long
Your medication has to be reviewed by your doctor, either by increasing the dosage or prescribing another type of AD.
I am pleased you have joined the forum and hope to hear back from you. Geoff.
