Hello Number9t9 and welcome to the forums,
Do you have somewhere to live? You mentioned having to move but didn't say and combined with redudancy I was worried.
Finding work in a small town is tough especially management positions. Would you consider study? I found that in a small town learning a trade or being willing to give a physically demanding job a go is a good idea. Is this an option for you?
It's very disappointing to hear your friends haven't been much support. Maybe try volunteering in your town until you can find work? It will help you to meet some new people and hopefully make some new friends.
When you feel low being made redundant can feel like a personal attack but please try and remember it isn't a reflection on you as a person or employee... It is a financial decision. You will find another job and hopefully one that is more stable and considerate of employees. But for now remind yourself of your worth and talents and skills and ask for help until you find your feet again.
What services are available in your area for jobseekers?
I hope you can write again and keep your mind busy until you can find some hope for the future.
Nat

Dear Number9t9,
Nat has given you some sound advice and good suggestions.
I chose to write to you because I felt like you too. It was gut- wrenching & I cried too. I had to leave my rental also & became depressed because I felt other jobs just didn't compare to what I used to do. I felt lucky to be in the job I lost. So I can feel your pain.
It was a struggle but now I'm in a very good place again. It's not for everyone but I'm now living with my mother rent free, have started a writing venture, am studying for a new career & work casually. I even started a clothes business. Maybe there is something on- line you can do? Perhaps a business venture?
You might need to be down in the dumps for a while & cry it out but being the intelligent, resourceful person you are I'm sure you'll think of something.
Is relocating an option?
A heartfelt good luck to you!
