Hi, Im new here and suffer bouts of depression. I know its related to my thyroid condition when my body doesn't do the right things. My husband just yells and swears at me to snap out of it and tells me to think happy thoughts but that just makes it worse and my thoughts go where I dont want them to go. Hope this makes sense.

Wouldn't it be nice to just snap out of it! Gosh..... I'm sorry your husband is supporting your feelings in the way that need. But just know you're not alone and if.it was as simple as snapping out of it. I'm sure its easy to say we wouldn't be here writing on this forum would we?
Have you discussed this with your GP is there anything they can do to help?

Hi Rosie54,
What's happening to you is out of your control as it's linked to a thyroid condition ,have u explained this to your husband? With some understanding ( you could even show him the research) he might realize you can't just snap out of it...it's insensitive to say that otherwise. 🙂

Yes he knows as my doctor has explained it to both of us. Unfortunately he expects me to be happy all the time and keep him happy. But every now and then it all gets too much for me.

I think you need to do something for yourself, is there anything you enjoy that you don't make time for?
I myself feel like i need to make my family all happy and neglect myself so much. It is something i need to do more often.
But our happiness does matter and it doesn't matter how small you start.
Maybe you could take a long hot bath or watch a movie. Go out for a coffee?
It's a shame your husband isn't listening, i hope you manage to discuss with him about this.
